Historia
In The Black Swan Taleb outlined a problem, and in Antifragile he offers a definitive solution: how to gain from disorder and chaos while being protected from fragilities and adverse events. For what Taleb calls the "antifragile" is actually beyond the robust, because it benefits from shocks, uncertainty, and stressors, just as human bones get stronger when subjected to stress and tension. The antifragile needs disorder in order to survive and flourish. Taleb stands uncertainty on its head, making it desirable, even necessary, and proposes that things be built in an antifragile manner.

Don't waste your time
Revisado: 11-06-22
I expected this book to be an academic work, but it is not. The author is snarky and unprofessional. He relies heavily on rambling anecdotes which feel more self-aggrandizing than relevant. The text is laden with assumptions and few citations of sources. Most of the book feels like fluff that doesn't relate to the main topic and I find myself not having a clear understanding of what anti-fragile actually means. The author comes across as arrogant and extremely condescending as he repeatedly insults professions, experts, and education while simultaneously discussing his own business successes. He pretends to be an expert in everything, frequently bringing up new topics and spouting derisive opinions about them while repeatedly saying that the experts have gotten it all wrong. This book is poorly written and not worth listening to.

Historia
Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has been a top seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its 15th year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey that explore whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answer some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.

Life changing
Revisado: 05-27-22
The 7 habits are phenomenal and life changing! Extremely good advice that still endures to this day. These habits help foster more mutually beneficial partnerships to make both life and doing business easier. The only thing I don't like about this book is that the author can't seem to go much more than 10 minutes without appealing to religion. I understand it's a huge part of his life, but it's not for many of his readers.

There are approximately 3,712 ways for a guy to look stupid during pregnancy-this book's here to help you avoid all (most) of them. And here's your first hint: Focus on what you can be doing for her rather than what's happening to her. She's pregnant. She knows that. You know that. And her one 152 baby books tell her exactly what she can expect. Your job is to learn what you can do between the stick turning blue and the drive to the delivery room to make the next nine months go as smoothly as possible.

Great info
Revisado: 09-28-21
This book is full of great info for first time dad's condensed into a palatable format. The author is snarky, which is mostly fun and entertaining, but occasionally comes across as condescending or offensive. Looking past that, overall I highly recommend.

Historia
In April 1970, during the glory days of the Apollo space program, NASA sent Navy Captain Jim Lovell and two other astronauts on America's fifth mission to the moon. Only 55 hours into the flight of Apollo 13, disaster struck: a mysterious explosion rocked the ship, and soon its oxygen and power began draining away. Written with all the color and drama of the best fiction, Apollo 13 (previously published as Lost Moon) tells the full story of the moon shot that almost ended in catastrophe.

Uneducated, damaging and offensive misinformation
Revisado: 01-12-21
This book is complete uneducated drivel. The author has a very narrow chauvinistic point of view on relationships and had clearly done no research to back up his claims. No sources are cited and all presented evidence is purely anecdotal, which makes it meaningless in any academic sense. Each chapter is simply an uneducated rant by the author complaining about a certain aspect of relationships. Leaps of logic, sweeping generalizations, and false dichotomies are in every paragraph. Towards the end of the book, he speaks very offensively about people with mental illnesses and his claims clearly show that he knows exactly nothing about real psychology. He also misrepresents depression and prescribes remedies that don't work. The relationship advice in this book is full of ignorance and describes only one type of person, not surprising considering the clear lack of research that went into this work. A large portion of it sets bad expectations which will create more strife than harmony in most relationships. The information contained is uneducated, damaging and offensive. Don't waste your money.

Over the course of his 60 years, Christopher Hitchens has been a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. He has been both a socialist opposed to the war in Vietnam and a supporter of the U.S. war against Islamic extremism in Iraq. He has been both a foreign correspondent in some of the world's most dangerous places and a legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for alcohol and literature.

funny and informative
Revisado: 02-12-19
Christopher Hitchens recounts his life interspersed with quick quips and his signature brand of intellectual humor. Being read by the author himself makes it seem so much more genuine. However, due to his deep voice, there are some places in which it is difficult to hear him and it sounds more as if he is mumbling. Regardless, still an excellent listen for any fans of the great Hitchens.

In this book (previously published as Crippled America), we're going to look at the state of the world right now. It's a terrible mess, and that's putting it mildly. There has never been a more dangerous time. The politicians and special interests in Washington, DC, are directly responsible for the mess we are in. So why should we continue listening to them?

Revisado: 11-10-17
This book provides a clear outline of Trump's intentions as President of the United States, however I do wish he would have gone into greater detail on some topics. A few times there is the classic Donald Trump cockiness and I'd estimate about 10% of the book is needless bragging not tied into the general message. Overall, a good informative read.

When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Many of the techniques are common sense, although common sense isn't very common. The narrator pronounces some of the words a bit funny and the author uses a bit of outdated terminology. otherwise great book!

Twenty years ago, while riding in the back of a New York City taxicab, syndicated columnist and business consultant David J.
