Revisado: 06-27-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The intricate sexual tension between the young woman and her rescuer is palpable, yet the maturity and depth of Billy's character shine through. He exemplifies true leadership, loving her beyond physical attraction. This audiobook is a testament to King’s masterful storytelling and ability to create deeply nuanced characters. Highly recommended!
Thank you Stephen King. A new favorite!

Navigating Leadership in Tech: A Mixed Experience
Revisado: 12-04-23
As someone deeply involved in the IT and technology sector, I recently delved into an audiobook that I believe is incredibly beneficial for anyone in a leadership role within this field. The book brilliantly intertwines a captivating storyline with practical insights, making it a valuable resource for both new leaders and those ascending to higher positions in the tech world. It stands out for providing clear directions and focal points for those just starting out or moving up the ladder in IT and tech environments.
However, my experience with the narration of the book was somewhat jarring. This isn't a reflection on the narrator's general skills, which are commendable, but more about the contrast in narration style I experienced after listening to "The Goal," another exceptional business book. "The Goal" set a high bar with its use of multiple narrators to match the gender of the characters, enhancing the listening experience significantly.
In contrast, this audiobook employed a single female narrator who attempted to alter her voice for male characters. This approach, particularly for the main character, inadvertently painted him in a negative light, almost like an antagonist, which I believe was a misrepresentation. The choice of narrator, or perhaps the direction given to her, seemed off for this particular story. A consistent narration style, without the attempt to vary voice depth, might have served the content better.
Despite this hiccup in narration, the core content of the book remains exceptional. It's packed with valuable insights and strategies for navigating the complex landscape of tech leadership. I wholeheartedly recommend it for its substantial guidance and direction, essential for anyone stepping into or moving up in the realm of IT leadership. Just be prepared for a narration style that might take some getting used to.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Other reviews already cover why it's a great story. I would like to use my review to emphasize the amazing performance of the narrator. I wonder if there's anyone who can top this performance. If so, I have not come across it yet. Simoly superb.

All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Best-selling author John Burke is no exception. In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets?

Nice collection of NDEs... narration is terrible
Revisado: 02-04-23
This is a good book but the narrator's attempt to sound like the person who experienced the near-death is absolutely horrible.

Historia
Author Cynthia Bourgeault investigates the imaginal realm - an energetic realm well known to the mystical traditions but often forgotten in our own times. It is invisible to the physical eye, but clearly perceptible through the eye of the heart. The imaginal realm has long been associated with the personal world of dreams, prophecy, and oracles, and it also points toward a higher vision of our human purpose that is both evolutionary and collective. Bourgeault explores both aspects of imaginal reality and tells listeners how we can cooperate more fully with its guidance in our lives.

A must listen... but probably more than once
Revisado: 05-14-21
Cynthia Bourgeault has changed my life with one of her other works called The Wisdom Jesus. For that reason I wanted to listen to her latest work, which at the time of this writing, is this book.
I rate it at a solid 4, especially because the book introduces me to a new way of looking at life. In fact, the new lens I have now acquired by reading this work, is worth more than 5 stars by itself. But I am bit disappointed by the writing style. It's very hard to listen to. And I don't mean the narrator. Contrary to what others seem to think, I feel that the narration is spot on!
I am referring to the vocabulary. If you're not a language professional, you'll need to get your dictionary (as in Google) out every 5 lines or so. That saddens me a bit, as the message will be lost to many. if I didn't know better, I would have concluded that the author was making every attempt to ensure this work goes down in history as an intellectual piece of art, not intended for the normal or less literate audience. I choose to conclude that the work has been delivered using such advanced vocabulary as to intentionally make you work for it, resulting in a better understanding after everything is said and done.
Yet, I can't help but hope to see this exact same message being delivered in a much easier to understand format, which admittedly is not going to be an easy thing to accomplish, as the topic at hand is rather complex. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. It would certainly result in the message reaching many more of us.
Having said all that, I do recommend this book and I am sincerely grateful to Cynthia for having devoted time and effort to write it. Thank you.

Historia
The enlightenment you seek in other religions has been present in Christianity from the beginning. Richard Rohr, a global leader in spiritual awakening, helps you recognize the forces (such as ego resistance and dual thinking) that separate you from your deeper self. Then, drawing from Gospels and the greatest Christian contemplatives, he shows you what it means to be spiritually awake. You will learn why your ego resists change and growth, what is useful about popular ideas such as the law of attraction, what Jesus, the first mythical leader in the West, can teach you.

Awe inspiring
Revisado: 01-17-21
I have found so much joy and satisfaction in this book, that it has immediately become the number one staple of my library. I especially value how the author approaches Jesus and Christianity with a sincere truth purpose, leaving out more mainstream (church) political / egotistical motives.
The explanations about Jesus'way, the meanings of his teachings, and those of scripture passages, ring so true and allow embarking on a new, refreshing, powerful adventure to higher awareness.
The narration could not have been better, and feels completely in sync with the author's intended message.
Thank you, Mr Rohr, for writing this book and touching my life like no other has been able to touch it before.

If you put aside what you think you know about Jesus and approach the Gospels as though for the first time, something remarkable happens: Jesus emerges as a teacher of the transformation of consciousness. Cynthia Bourgeault is a masterful guide to Jesus' vision and to the traditional contemplative practices you can use to experience the heart of his teachings for yourself.

Powerful book for those who are ready
Revisado: 01-08-21
This is a well written and narrated book. Hard to understand scripture passages are explained in a fluid, easy to understand manner, obviously from the author's point of view. But these viewpoints are well thought out and based on newer texts found in Nag Hammadi. I couldn't stop listening. Will be a staple in my library.
Respect and gratitude to the author.

Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to enlightenment and become free of negativity. During the many decades of the author's clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.

Historia
Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Annoying editor notes ruin a good listen.
Revisado: 12-04-20
This is an amazing book. It is also narrated very well by the two main narrators.
Unfortunately there's one huge drawback. During the narration, the editor interjects herself to express her take on the matter. This just ruins it. My advice is to acquire the book somewhere else, as you don't have to come to a screeching halt with an annoying voice leaving an annoying note every so often.
