Historia
For August, Ryker, and Steve, the alpha werewolves in question, there's nothing ridiculous or confusing at all about wanting Dylan. The human smells like the word mate incarnate, and he's so achingly perfect that the idea of not having him is too terrible to even consider. Sweet, eager to please, and unexpectedly funny, he's everything they could ever want in a mate. With three of them and only one of Dylan, August, Ryker, and Steve are going to have to figure out how to make this work. Someone has to be left out in the cold, and no one wants it to be them.

It's not the story you're paying for.
Revisado: 08-30-24
Is this a literary masterpiece? not even close. The plot is slow and predictable, the writing very repetitive and the characters are all two dimensional idiots. But is this exquisitely filthy? Abso-freaking-lutely.
The intimate scenes are unique, with ingenious correogrephy, each one an opus of spicy, sloppy, unapologetic tangle of muscles, sweat, spit, and spunk.
The audio performers had great, steady tones, but one of them articulated things a bit juviniley (wolf is pronounced woof).
Don't expect this to be a romance novel.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

This story was adorable. The pacing was fast and even, the humor was consistent and hardly rated anything higher than PG, and the plot was actually unique without being pretentious. I laughed out loud and thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

Historia
Thomas Penrose is a village doctor in rural Cornwall. Popular with patients and friends alike, and handsome into the bargain, he lives in a romantic clifftop tower by the sea. It's a wonderful life - if only Dr. Tom could enjoy it. He's a veteran of the conflict in Afghanistan, fighting a lonely battle against alcoholism and PTSD. Determined not to inflict his troubles on anyone else, Tom keeps himself to himself. But fate has other ideas, and brings a handsome surfer crashing to his feet after a dreadful wipe-out on Porth Beach.

Historia
Priddy's a lost soul in a part of Cornwall the tourists don't get to see. He's young, sweet-natured, and gorgeous, but that's not enough to achieve escape velocity from his deadbeat village and rotten family life. He's a drifter and a dreamer, and self-preservation isn't his strong suit. An accidental overdose of a nightclub drug leaves him fractured, hallucinating, with too many vital circuits fried to function in a tough world. When a friend offers him winter work in a lighthouse, he gratefully accepts.

Magical
Revisado: 11-22-20
The narrator was perfect, and the writing was as poetic as ever. The whole story was drenched in legends and magical realism. While there's a few elements of conflict, the biggest one for me was accepting the transition between hallucinating brain damage and the introduction of fantastic elements. While the romance seemed to spin effortlessly between Priddy and Meru, the sequence of activities that facilitated their growing affection felt clunky and fragmented. The emotions were perfect, though, believable and genuine. No cliches in these waters. Worth a listen, but not my favorite book by this author.

Brilliant
Revisado: 11-17-20
While this is a romance story with love scenes, it's not a bodice ripper. There is so much poetry and attention to detail that one feels themselves on the Island, a part of it as much as an observer. There is so much heart in this story, as well, an exploration of the feelings of loss, heartbreak, love, passion, fear, and an allegoric telling of what it means to love something without holding so tight it smothers. I would listen to this again and again simply for the poetry of the landscape, and the pleasantness of the narrator's voice. He sounded a little older than the main character is meant to be, but that was fine. This is worth the credit.

sweet, but subdued
Revisado: 10-30-20
This novel was well written and performed. The narrator did a great job on the voices throughout, but his voice had a very soft, hushed quality that made me feel a bit lulled while I listened.
The description kind of promised a bit of "rough," of which there wasn't really any, nor was there any kind of d/s relationship, just one partner preferring a far more passive role.
The romance was sweet, but overbalanced by enough well written angst that I found myself wanting to cry for the lead characters. I probably wouldn't read it again, but I'm not mad about having read it at least once.

I'm glad I gave it a chance
Revisado: 10-28-20
Sometimes Joel Leslie is a little over dramatic for my taste, but his narration was excellent. The different accents were consistent and we'll executed. The writing was really good, the love scenes way super hot, and the character hangups were believable. The ending was satisfying and I'm really glad I gave it a chance.

Smart writing, sloooooooow burn.
Revisado: 10-15-20
The author did a great job of showing versus telling, which meant I had to think a great deal to understand the first half of the book where the setting is presented in fragments, that there is magic in the world, that the magic has laws, but we aren't exactly privy to how those laws work. The author also did a pretty good job of building romantic tension in the last two thirds of the book, and while we aren't explicitly clued into Crane's sexuality, it's not at all a shock when we are presented with it. I almost didn't finish through the first third because it didn't seem to be a cohesive story, rather a supernatural mystery, but once the romance kicked in, it ties everything together very well. if you find yourself struggling, give it until halfway through to get into it, and the rest will suck you in. The narrator was perfect.

Excellent
Revisado: 10-14-20
I didn't expect this book to be as good as it was based on the description, but it was well written, and excellently performed. It was a bit of a slow burn, but the love scenes were perfectly steamy and believable. The resolution was sweet and conclusive. I literally can't find a single issue to remark upon.

it was fine but I almost DNF.
Revisado: 10-06-20
The lead, Matt, had few redeeming qualities, and he maintained an attitude that had me scratching my head as to why I would put up with him. the set up for this novel was so promising. Everything was great for the first quarter of the book, but once the plot was established and the characters all introduced, it was just kind of Blah. The literary equivalent of turning your custard to scrambled egg. The flavor was still there, it was relatively edible, but the texture was gag.
