Historia
Mr. Darcy, Vampyre starts where Pride and Prejudice ends and introduces a dark family curse so perfectly that the result is a delightfully thrilling, spine-chilling, breathtaking read. A dark, poignant and visionary continuation of Austen's beloved story, this tale is full of danger, darkness and immortal love.

Not in the tradition of Jane
Revisado: 11-18-09
The clever repartee and wit of Austen, as well as plot progression, suspense, character development, etc. do not appear in this cliched "story" where Elizabeth's reaction to attack is a letter to Jane, repeated descriptions of getting in and out of a gondola epitomize the descriptive prose, Mr. Darcy alternates between hungry and...hungry, and the book is in its final endless hours when Elizabeth suddenly realizes something it horribly, horribly wrong (time for another letter). Concept is great, execution drivel. The narrator was also agonizingly slow, especially the first half.

Nothing happens...
Revisado: 06-16-09
There weren't any reviews when I added this book to my wishlist and I wish I had gone back to check them before I wasted a credit on this book. I made it through Part I (admittedly fast forwarding here and there) waiting for something to happen and was completely disappointed. The book description has so much potential and disappoints so dramatically. If you are into philosophical meandering ad nauseum, this book is for you. If you are into action, there isn't any.

Great plot, gory details
Revisado: 01-06-09
I have not read this author before although I understand Evan Delaney has starred in more than one novel. The plot was engrossing and in itself worth the listen but some of the scenes were really savage. It wasn't enough to give an intimation of vicious acts; Ms. Gardiner wrote with enough chilling, bloody detail that I actually found myself fastforwarding through parts, wondering if I had bought "horror" instead of "thriller". And there wasn't just one such scene but five or six, enough to discourage me buying another of her stories.
