Something for everyone!
Revisado: 03-06-19
I absolutely loved this book and was constantly taking notes! It was so helpful to be able to listen in on the coaching sessions and have Mel discuss it afterwards with concrete steps on how to take action. I loved that it was so different than the same stuff you often hear in self-help books. Each session was quite different so every person can take away something from at least one of the sessions. I recommend this to every one and will definitely be giving it another listen in a few months!

Probably better to read
Revisado: 02-04-19
I found that there was a lot of helpful information in this book but a lot of it was presented as a list which was very boring to listen to and very repetitive. It would be better to have the book so you can skim through things to say and pick the best one for your situation.

When Fig Coxbury buys a house on West Barrett Street, it's not because she likes the neighborhood, or even because she likes the house. It's because everything she desires is next door: the husband, the child, and the life that belongs to someone else.

Was expecting more at the end
Revisado: 01-23-19
There were a lot of things I loved about this book. I liked having the three different POVs and I was pulled in for each one. I liked that there were surprises throughout the book too. The reason why I can only give three stars is that I didn't have my mind blown at the end like a lot of the other people who read the book! I enjoyed the book and liked that it didn't drag on long.

Historia
When you listen to Lily and the Octopus, you will be taken on an unforgettable ride. The magic of this novel is in the listening, and we don't want to spoil it by giving away too many details. We can tell you that this is a story about that special someone: the one you trust, the one you can't live without. For Ted Flask, that someone special is his aging companion, Lily, who happens to be a dog.

Loved the ending but not the rest of the book
Revisado: 01-18-19
I thought I would love this book because I have two small dogs plus I tend to get really emotional and attached to stories. But I just didn't connect since I guess I'm not a fan of the magic realism of this book. Overall there were moments that made me laugh and cry a bit and I did enjoy the ending but it was a struggle to keep listening. Michael Urie was a wonderful narrator which is what helped me get through it!

A struggle to finish
Revisado: 01-11-19
I wanted to love to this book because I heard so many great reviews and Rachel is speaking at an upcoming conference I'm attending so I had very high expectations! I did think she had some good quotes and some motivational stories but overall it was hard for me to stay interested because I couldn't relate to much. I think it might be better for Christian mothers who want to know they don't have to be perfect? I felt that there wasn't much for personal development and the helpful parts were nothing new, like write down your goals, have a clear vision of what you want and don't give up. I found that the book didn't have much flow between chapters and it was repetitive. I also thought there were a lot of inconsistencies between the things she was saying which I found annoying. I personally didn't enjoy the book but it seems to be very motivating for a lot of people so it might be worth the listen depending on what you need to hear. If you get through the first hour and don't love it I suggest returning it!

Historia
Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy. Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family. Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

Way too long but a good ending
Revisado: 12-29-18
It was painful listening to the narrator ramble on for 2/3 of the book before anything interesting happened but stuck with it because of the amazing reviews I read! I was happy with the ending but overall it wasn't worth the time spent on it.

Historia
Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans, and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary. But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.

Enjoyed it but too long
Revisado: 10-21-18
I was so excited for this book because of the incredible reviews but I found it very long and repetitive. It's a slow build up which I love but there wasn't much to it other than that and didn't blow me away like I expected.

It wasnt what I expected but it was great to listen to until the end. If you liked the book You by Caroline Kepnes you'll like this because they're quite similar. I liked that it wasn't too long and didn't drag on.

Historia
Kate Sedgwick's life has been anything but typical. She's endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there's a reason her best friend, Gus, calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She's also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

Amazing story and performance
Revisado: 02-19-17
What made the experience of listening to Bright Side the most enjoyable?
I loved the performance! It was so captivating right from the beginning. I loved that the book didn't give out all the details at the very beginning and I was slowly learning more and more about the main character.
What did you like best about this story?
Although it was sad, the book left me wanting to be a better person. The main character is so beautiful and is such an inspiration.
