Historia
In her compelling, beautifully crafted novel, New York Times best-selling author Marie Bostwick celebrates friendships old and new - and the unlikely threads that sometimes lead us exactly where we need to go. Christmas is fast approaching, and New Bern, Connecticut, is about to receive the gift of a new pastor, hired sight unseen to fill in while Reverend Tucker is on sabbatical. Meanwhile, Margot Matthews’ friend, Abigail, is trying to matchmake, even though Margot has all but given up on romance.

Narrator sounded depressed
Revisado: 04-30-16
The narrator for Margo sounded like she was depressed. Philips narrator was great. The story was fine. Tired up a little too neat.

Historia
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Definitely her second book
Revisado: 03-23-13
What disappointed you about The Casual Vacancy?
The story just was not as rich as Harry Potter - I know you shouldn't compare her writing like that but the story was not rich and engaging. All 7 Potter books count as her first book and the second novel curse happened to her.
Would you ever listen to anything by J. K. Rowling again?
Yes. I think there are still many great works in her. "Real life" just didn't really work out for her to write about.
What three words best describe Tom Hollander’s voice?
Rich, engaging, varied
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Tom Hollander has a great reading voice and is wonderful to listen to.
Any additional comments?
Not worth it.

Tough cop is tough
Revisado: 03-23-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The cop main character was a little too "tough". She seemed really stereotypical and without depth.
Would you ever listen to anything by Lisa Gardner again?
Maybe
What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?
She was flat - like listening to a Film Noire
Was The 7th Month worth the listening time?
not really
Any additional comments?
Predictable. If you have something else to listen to then go for that.

READ THIS! Just a GREAT "mystery"
Revisado: 03-23-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Very layered and interesting. Great mystery and puzzler.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mr. Penumbra. He is a very layered character and very kind.
What does Ari Fliakos bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He sounds like the young man who doesn't really know his way around the world yet.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The whole mystery/puzzle of the books was great. I would love to be in the book club.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

You will never believe where she went!
Revisado: 03-23-13
Where does Where'd You Go, Bernadette rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is in the top 20. Great story and well told.
What other book might you compare Where'd You Go, Bernadette to and why?
I am not sure I have ever read a book like it. Told from the point of view of the daughter (mainly) the story unfolds in an interesting way that I can't explain without giving away a lot.
What does Kathleen Wilhoite bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice and expressiveness was great. Her voice for the daughter was childish and as the parents mature (except when the adults were acting childish).
If you could rename Where'd You Go, Bernadette, what would you call it?
Bernadette, you're a Mess!
Any additional comments?
Fun story. Long but worth it.

Not a Twi-love story
Revisado: 01-02-13
What did you love best about A Discovery of Witches?
The performance is outstanding. She does accents beautifully. At one point she has to portray a snooty french aristocrat and she is perfect.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the occupation of the main character and the great descriptions used to identify the places she goes and the manuscripts she looks at.
Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Nope.

Historia
This final play from the pen of Oscar Wilde is a stylish send-up of Victorian courtship and manners, complete with assumed names, mistaken lovers, and a lost handbag. Jack and Algernon are best friends, both wooing ladies who think their names are Ernest, "that name which inspires absolute confidence." Wilde's effervescent wit, scathing social satire, and high farce make this one of the most cherished plays in the English language.

Historia
Of especially naughty children, it is sometimes said: “They must have been raised by wolves.” The Incorrigible children actually were. Discovered in the forests of Ashton Place, the Incorrigibles are no ordinary children: Alexander keeps his siblings in line with gentle nips; Cassiopeia has a bark that is (usually) worse than her bite; and Beowulf is alarmingly adept at chasing squirrels.
