Really Fun Story
Revisado: 04-02-14
What other book might you compare The Heist to and why?
I like Janet E. in general, but I think this is one of her better books. Not quite so outlandish which actually made it a better story. I'm getting the second book in the series because I enjoyed this first one so much.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Scott Brick is always great.

A bit over the top
Revisado: 01-13-09
This book was a bit far fetched yet predictable. It was "okay" but not one of the better books I've heard. By the end, in the "scariest" parts, my friends and I were laughing at how ludicrous it was. I'm sure that was not the author's intent.

Historia
When Walter Hartright encounters the "solitary figure of a woman, dressed from head to foot in white garments" on a lonely road, he is haunted by her. He falls in love with his employer's niece, Laura, because she resembles the mysterious woman. Laura, however, is betrothed to the evil Sir Percival, who wishes to marry her for her money. The woman in white, it turns out, is Anne Catherick, who was confined in an asylum by the evil Sir Percival because she knew a devastating secret about him.

A little docile
Revisado: 11-08-07
Because this book was written in another time, the women were spineless and the story a little bland. The characters were victims which was a little frustrating. It was an "okay" listen.

Historia
Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

I really enjoyed this book although it tells a heartbreaking story. If you want a real life account of some of today's oppressed middle eastern women and the lives they lead, read this book! It's compelling.

Historia
"Life changes fast....You sit down to dinner and life as you know it ends." These were among the first words Joan Didion wrote in January 2004. Her daughter was lying unconscious in an intensive care unit, a victim of pneumonia and septic shock. Her husband, John Gregory Dunne, was dead. The night before New Year's Eve, while they were sitting down to dinner, he suffered a massive and fatal coronary. The two had lived and worked side by side for nearly 40 years.

Thought provoking

This is a very comforting book for anyone who has lost someone recently. You can relate to the author. If you haven't, then the book is still interesting but not compelling.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

I loved this book and the characters. Had the same imaginative feel to me as Harry Potter books, but for adults only. The narrator was excellent and brought the characters to life.

Pretty good book
Revisado: 10-17-06
This was a nice little thriller with good characters. The plot was typical with the sadistic, deviant bad guy whose acts are bit too heinous to be believable. You won't be convinced this could actually happen, but it's an entertaining read.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Okay book
Revisado: 09-11-03
This was originally a short story and should have stayed that way. The idea is a good one, but it drags in the middle and has a piece of the story line that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the ultimate plot. It reads as what it is, a good short story that was made into a novel without adding any substance.

Historia
The office of the public defender is not known as a training ground for bright young litigators. Clay Carter has been there too long and, like most of his colleagues, dreams of a better job in a real firm. When he reluctantly takes the case of a young man charged with a random street killing, he assumes it is just another of the many senseless murders that hit DC every week. As he digs into the background of his client, Clay stumbles on a conspiracy too horrible to believe.

Very average
Revisado: 06-01-03
This was a slow book. It was the same story for 3/4 of the book, then ended in such a boring way, I was surprised that the author wrote it that way.
