Thoroughly Enjoyable

Loved this story. Scalzi at his best. This book was funny and creative, well paced and a great read/listen. I do wish they would change up the narrator for Scalzi's books. Wil Wheaton is ok. He reads the text but lacks performance skills of good narrators. Despite that I recommend this book. It's worth your time.

I like Max Brooks quite a bit and have enjoyed most of his books. I wish I had read this one though. Judy Greer was a bit much. I fully understand that's what they were going for...but the main character became overwhelmingly annoying. Loved the other narrators!

I expected more based on reviews. This was ok. Maybe if I was a gamer I would have found something to love. I did get though it painlessly. It is not a book I will remember much in 6 months.

I've heard many good things about this book maybe my expectations were too high. I found it predictable and boring. The narrator did little to give life and energy to the story...but that was how the main character was written. I often
struggle when characters are unlikable.

An entertaining listen

It has been mentioned before but it bares repeating. Scalzi desperately needed an editor to get him a list of words to use instead of said. I would have given the story 5 stars but the repetition of "said" became very frustrating. Wil Wheaton is a decent reader but does little to adjust his voice for various characters. Even with these issues, I would still recommend the book if you're a fan of the genre or Scalzi.

I enjoyed listening to this story. Solid narration. Solid plot and characters. There were a few things here and there that could've been better or didn't quite work for me, so I can't give it 5 stars. It is a good concept and worth the time.

Maybe It's Ray Porter I like?

So I've listened to several Jonathan Maberry books and have enjoyed them. BUT those books were narrated by Ray Porter, who is amazing. This book fell flat for me. It was corny and annoying in parts. The narrator was not great at female characters. There wasn't much difference between characters at all. The story was ok. Overall, difficult to finish. I got this as part of a deal, thankfully. If I could do it over, I'd skip it. Go listen to Ray Porter read vegan recipes for dogs instead.

Good Book

This is a solid second book in the series and seems to be the final book. I am glad the author chose not to drag things out for the sake of 3 books. The second book typically featuring a long journey full of will they won't they romantic missteps is getting old. Thankfully, this is not that. Better than the first and ends the story well.

Pretty Good

I enjoyed this book. It was an easy listen, nicky paced. No major twists and turns. But still enough action and peril to make it interesting. The narrator was decent enough. I wish her male voices were a bit better. otherwise, no complaints.
