Historia
In his sizzling first novel, the creator of L.A. Law and NYPD Blue plunges a down-on-his-luck Hollywood writer into the thick of a murder investigation, which he uses to get better material for his screenplay. When Bobby Newman spies upon his neighbors one day through his $4,000 telescope, he sees a beautiful woman making love to a handsome actor named Ramon. But when their pillow talk turns sour, Bobby watches as she bludgeons her lover to death with his own acting trophy.

There's a better version...
Revisado: 07-09-05
This is a fun book and a okay reading, but there's a version on CD read by Dennis Franz that's a lot better. He's much more expressive.

Historia
America is a country gripped by fear. In this widely-acclaimed book, Barry Glassner exposes the people and organizations that manipulate our perceptions and profit from our anxieties. These peddlers of fear (politicians, advocacy groups, and the media) cost Americans dearly, weighing us down with needless worries and causing us to squander billions of dollars to fix mythological problems.

Mostly forgettable
Revisado: 01-21-04
The weird thing about this book is that the author explains how "fear mongers" use the media to mislead the public and thus promote their alarmingly conservative agenda. He then does an about-face and uses the EXACT SAME TECHNIQUES to explain why we should fear those things that liberals find scary.
As someone who isn't overly political, I found this book to be more silly (insofar as it contradicts itself) than intolerable.

Recycled
Revisado: 08-20-03
According to Stephen Hawking's web site, he wrote the text many years ago, but the material it covers has already been published in his other books (such as 'A Brief History of Time'). He didn't have anything to do with the publishing of this book and anyone interested in his work would do better to get the books he actually intended to write. This one is largely unoriginal (and that's according to the so-called author -- who is still alive by the way).
