Historia
Sir Horley Comewithers isn’t particularly interested in getting married, especially when his match is a perfectly respectable young woman. Sir Horley is, after all, extravagantly gay. But he’s resigned to a fate there’s no point resisting—until a dear friend does it for him. Arabella Tarleton has no interest in romance, but even she can see that Sir Horley’s nuptials are destined to end in a lifetime of misery. Well, not on her watch. And what are friends for, if not abducting you on the night before your wedding in an overdramatic attempt to save you from a terrible mistake?

I’ll never get those hours back…
Revisado: 04-28-25
I get that that author has created the world she wished there was.
But it is choppy and pointless. And preachy.
No one is actually likable or relatable.
Okay, I get it, even “ladies” can use coarse language, but are the character’s vocabularies so limited that all they can do is use profanity?
I suppose some people like this, so I won’t say it is terrible.
One last note: I spent the first two chapters trying to figure out who Siruley was. LOL. I shouldn’t have to go to the title details just to figure out what the narrator is saying.

Well, I finished it… barely
Revisado: 12-31-24
I expected to love this book.
I tried to like it.
Settled for loathing.
Nothing. Makes. Sense.
I had to check and recheck to see if I accidentally selected a “Nocturne Falls Universe” story. Did Kristin Painter really write this?
There is just nothing that makes me like or trust any characters, they are flat and act without any sense.
There is no way that these events could have happened without Alice Bishop’s knowledge. And if the big bad thing really existed, every witch in town would be involved.

When Finch Dante settles in Ravenfall, the last thing he expects is to find himself on Axegate Walk, a boardwalk of Otherworldian vendors. Keeping his head down and his secrets tight was all Finch wanted . . . but fate had other ideas in the form of a bubbly, quirky woman with a penchant for the weird, and an uncanny ability to know what he was feeling.

This Dark One Doesn't Sparkle or Move Quickly...
Revisado: 12-03-23
I'm so sad. At last, a new Dark Ones Novel. I wanted to love it, but I'll be honest, it took me weeks to get through the story. Nothing happened until over 5 hours into the book. Not even background, it just feels like Finch is being introduced to people and complains that he's having to run a shop. He's in hiding. WHY? He's grumpy? WHY?
I started listening weeks ago. It simply would not hold my attention. I would go on to other audio books, and come back. It wasn't until I was having to do a long drive today and finally got to the last two hours that anything happened. The story did get fairly entertaining, but this is not at all what I have come to expect from Katie MacAlister. I feel as if we're being set up for another story, but give me some content to make me want to come back for another book!

This book just wasn't great. it wasn't even especially good. No excitement. No real plot. Inane conversations. Maybe it is just a set up for future books?

Then a drool-worthy man shows up at her door claiming that he accidentally bit Marty. And since he's a werewolf, she is now, too. My first graders know not to use this word...
Revisado: 08-10-19
I've come back to leave this review after listening to the first four books in the series. I simply cannot go on. At one point I thought this series was simply a YA offering, except for the abundance of bad sex scenes.
What bothers me most is that the author continually has a character use the word "TARD." That is not okay. Sure have a character say it once. Allow the others to jump all over her for it, and have her learn something. Not use it numerous times in every book. In this day and age, it is time to wipe this word out of common usage.

Highly predictable from the first sentence
Revisado: 06-19-19
Not what I have come to expect from the Bridgerton series. Both of the characters are filled with insipid moral angst and I just couldn't bring myself to care.
Simon Prebble is generally a great narrator, but this book gave him nothing to work with so he ends up making the hero sound like a lecherous controlling ass.

Everything Molly Harper Isn't
Revisado: 09-13-18
This book isn't funny or snarky or even tongue in cheek. Everything I love about Molly Harper's books, and I have all but "My Bluegrass Baby," is missing from this story. Is this a YA novel? Not that there is anything wrong with YA, there are some that I love. I know that Molly has taken on a new genre and story line. I hate it and it made me so sad since I was looking forward to this for months. Not even Amanda Ronconi can save this book for me. I'm not returning it. Maybe in a few years I'll try listening to it again. No. Probably not.

Snooze...
Revisado: 08-01-18
I started this book four times before I gave up on it. I'm not sure if it is just an insipid predictable story, too many characters being introduced at once, or the sleep inducing tone of the narrator. I finished chapter 5 and have no idea what the story line is because it just doesn't matter. I usually enjoy Mary Balogh's books. This one isn't for me.

You haven't truly lived, or dined, until you've heard Cassandra Campbell capture the emotional nuances of Newark's best Indian-inflected burgers or let Nick Podehl extol the virtues of the pear arugula salad and then seductively steer you toward a plate of creamy mushroom linguini.

I kept waiting for the characters in this book to develop interesting personalities.
I kept waiting for something in the storyline to become worth listening to.
Apparently, I waited in vain.
