I'm not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews??? The FMC is wildly infuriating, and the female narrator doesn't help her case at all. She sounds 20 years older than the FMC and her inflection isn't great. Lonnie is scared of everything, dislikes everything, can't speak up for herself but once in a blue moon. There either wasn't enough time dedicated to the development of the MMCs, or they're just a**hats and no amount of time will help their case, either. Thankfully I only paid half a credit for this. Will not continue.

fmc is not a girls girl

This book was okay. The narrating was fantastic, but the narrators can only do so much. The FMC is supposed to be a girls girl - she makes up 1/4 of an all female ride-or-die friend group, and states multiple times how she would do ANYTHING for them...EXCEPT TELL THEM THE TRUTH?!! Lil spoiler so if you don't want a spoiler DO NOT FINISH READING THIS. Okay, so when Juliet confessed she knew her dad wasn't her dad and was clearly distraught, Davina did noylt gaf. She went right back to dude and lived in her happy little bubble with her friends "dad," and didn't act like one of her ride-or-dies is super struggling with this news.. she didn't ask him any questions about who he was to this girl he's claiming as his daughter... NOTHING. Like I said, not a girls girl.

Meh... FMC is dense..

The performances were amazing, but the way the FMC was portrayed rubbed me wrong, but I still listened all the way through. She's supposed to be a strong, black belted, park ranger, with horrible baggage, but she comes across as mindless and a little foolish. She made it hard to listen to some parts without being irritated.

😍 I'M IN LOVE

Glad I listened to this because it is all around CHEF'S KISS. 🤌🏻😍 The FMC wasn't a whiny bum, but someone who got stuff DONE. Do not mess with her! Also the MMC is a heartthrob and my new book bf. All the characters supported the story well and I'm just as in love with them, as I am with the mains. Just the right amount of steam for me, too. Cannot wait for the next book!

fmc perspective - dnf

This book was predominantly narrated in the fmc perspective. It drove me crazy towards the end, because there wasn't any great delve into Riofr's story. Maybe that's coming in the next bbook, but I won't be ppurchasing.

This book is one of my favorites to listen to again and again. Not only is the writing on point, but both of the narrators did their jobs incredibly. I also appreciate the fact that the fmc didn't make me want to pull my hair out, and even though she came from circumstances that made her a bit naive, she was still a strong person who listened to herself. No room for weakness here!

FMC is whiny 🤢

Wanted to like these, but half-way through the second book the fmc got way too whiny and dnf. She talked back and questioned everything, and it would have been more tolerable, if, when she questioned things, she had a good reason to, or something of substance to add. But no, she came off as annoying and childish. She was 26 and was a researcher for her career...so...why so dumb and annoying?

DNF...super upset (possible spoilers)

I really tried to like the audio of this book, but just kept coming up empty. The audio speed of the FMC and the MMC were off. Like they didn't match, one would be too fast, and another, too slow. I was constantly adjusting the speed. I also don't agree with the 3rd party narration. It gets grating.."he said, he said, he thought," yada yada, you get it. Then there are multiple narrators but only one love interest. I get multiple main charcters, but this seems EXTENSIVE.

FMC is grating

She's got a backbone. She doesn't have a backbone. She's strong enough to do what it takes. She's too naive and gullible. She embraces her sexuality. She bounces back to feeling prudish. I wish she came off more in control and didn't fantasize so much about the what-ifs or could-haves. Her inner dialogue is exhausting.

SPOILER: weak fmc

Addie overcame SO much, yet in the last book, it still made her doubt herself and the mmc. WHY?! Either this story needed another book, or it missed the mark. There was every opportunity for Addie to embrace her strength and her love for Zade, but it lacked.. Epic disappointment..... wtf
