A book you can truly feel!
Revisado: 11-14-24
This was my introduction to Kennedy Ryan, and I have read everything else she has written since. The raw emotions that you feel reading herr work speaks to her descriptiveness. The sex scenes will have you clenching your pearls. And the performance by the readers is top notch!

Historia
In present-day California, Eleanor Bennett’s death leaves behind a puzzling inheritance for her two children, Byron and Benny: a black cake, made from a family recipe with a long history, and a voice recording. In her message, Eleanor shares a tumultuous story about a headstrong young swimmer who escapes her island home under suspicion of murder. The heartbreaking tale Eleanor unfolds, the secrets she still holds back, and the mystery of a long-lost child challenge everything the siblings thought they knew about their lineage and themselves.

Better than the Amazing TV Show!
Revisado: 11-14-24
I went through all of the emotions in this book and the layers of the main character now and before is thrilling. You get some history in there, some interracial relationships, estrangement, death, the whole nine! The TV show is amazing and already critically acclaimed, and the book is even better!

Twists Galore, but the ending left me confused
Revisado: 11-14-24
The author is very good at bringing you into multiple perspectives and keeping you on your toes. The only let down was the final twist I thought was thrown in at the end that just didn't make sense. The end of the book is the most memorable and unfortunately that was the let down. Everything before this was thrilling.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Slow Build up to a Super Climatic Wrap Up
Revisado: 11-14-24
They play on your heart strings in the beginning and actually make you feel like this will end in heartbreak. And while it did end in heartbreak, it is not the one you would guess from the beginning. Tons of emotions about spouses, friendships and children will come up, so it could be trigerring. Overall, very good plot twist.

Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure: absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due.

The author is a genius
Revisado: 11-14-24
I had several suspects in mind and to see the most far fetched ending come together perfectly, I knew I would be consuming all of David Ellis' work. I almost solely read novels by women, so the man's perspective and narration was refreshing and new. I loved all of the twists and layers to the character development.

As a high performing woman, I often feel like I'm not doing enough and didn't identify the feelings I have as anxiety until listening to this book and realizing how many similarities I have with the author. Regaining my power is at the top of my list now. And the stories about corporate America is why I got out!

Not for mentally OK people
Revisado: 01-15-21
The narrator’s voice was monotone and sad so it made it hard to listen to. And then the book focused on individuals who had tough times coping with life, making healthy decisions, and just downright being happy. For that individual, this book has some great tactics. However, if you are even mentally ok, this book would be too much of what you already know.

I felt like he was talking to me the entire time. Understanding exactly where you are making money and designing your business to do that without you is invaluable. Great work. Now I just have to get the guts to actually follow through with his teachings.
