Historia
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

Scarier than almost anything I’ve ever read, and perhaps a counterintuitively helpful book for inspiring what to focus on in life.

Historia
1983 was a supremely dangerous year - even more dangerous than 1962, the year of the Cuban Missile Crisis. In the US, President Reagan massively increased defence spending, described the Soviet Union as an 'evil empire' and announced his 'Star Wars' programme, calling for a shield in space to defend the US from incoming missiles. Yuri Andropov, the paranoid Soviet leader, saw all this as signs of American aggression and convinced himself that the US really meant to attack the Soviet Union. He put the KGB on alert to look for signs of an imminent nuclear attack.

Great book and narration

…except the reader’s American pronunciation was absolutely dreadful. Enjoyable storyline and nice to learn about Reagan and his various Soviet counterparts.

Historia
We all know the headiness and excitement of the early days of love. But what comes after? In Edinburgh a couple, Rabih and Kirsten, fall in love. They get married, they have children—but no long-term relationship is as simple as "happily ever after". The Course of Love is a novel that explores what happens after the birth of love, what it takes to maintain love, and what happens to our original ideals under the pressures of an average existence.

Fantastic and lovely
Revisado: 08-27-17
It's so well written, if just slightly contrived in terms of the fictional part of the story, and so well performed, I finished it in two days. Highly recommend.

Short and rich
Revisado: 12-23-16
It's not quite an audiobook, but more of a collection of radio reports and interviews. I could've used a bit more structure and context, but just listening to Tully's clear and honest reportage about topics like Indira Gandhi and her sons and their family's rule over Indian politics for decades, and big news stories like the attack on the Sikh temple and the industrial disaster were very informative. I'm eager to learn more about modern Indian history after listening to this.

Loved it

I found the author to be engaging and witty, with a worthwhile story to tell. It's nice the author read his own work, it makes it feel more natural.
