Historia
Imagine how different your life would be if you could tell whether someone was lying or telling you the truth. Be it hiring a new employee, investing in a financial interest, speaking with your child about drugs, confronting your significant other about suspected infidelity, or even dating someone new, having the ability to unmask a lie can have far-reaching and even life-altering consequences. As former CIA officers, Philip Houston, Michael Floyd, and Susan Carnicero are among the world’s best at recognizing deceptive behavior.

Best book I've read in past 2 years
Revisado: 10-17-19
Best book with content , examples and applications. getting to the truth without being a cowboy about it. I have recommended.this book already. though the narration isn't audible-enertaining, it was very worth it because audible-esque enactment would have taken away from the book.

Great storyline. Little too political for my taste. Previous book is amazing, kept you guessing. Looking forward to next book.

Historia
In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.

Loved the voice and content
Revisado: 08-01-15
I loved the voice that matched with the time of the book. Washington and the soldiers had to endure far more than what U had imagined (or was taught). Many hours must have been put into this book to return a Stella book like this. Rarely do I re tea something. This is one ill go over again.

She fell into the hands of a confident young woman who pretended friendship but slowly lured her into a child prostitution ring. For years afterward, a cycle of false friendship, threats, drugs, and violence kept her trapped.

Eye opener (Not for little ones)
Revisado: 05-28-15
This changed my world view on trafficking. The title doesn't do it justice to the topic. We need to see the root cause when we witness the crum; we need to fix the real reason and not bandaid the issue.

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

When twenty-two-year-old Jennifer Worth, from a comfortable middle-class upbringing, went to work as a midwife in the direst section of postwar London, she not only delivered hundreds of babies and touched many lives, she also became the neighborhood';s most vivid chronicler. Woven into the ongoing tales of her life in the East End are the true stories of the people Worth met who grew up in the dreaded workhouse, a Dickensian institution that limped on into the middle of the twentieth century.

All time favorite
Revisado: 01-06-15
If you could sum up Shadows of the Workhouse in three words, what would they be?
Acts of kindness goes a long way. See things through to the end. Judging people is a tricky thing; it comes back to bite you and say you were off. Loving people includes hands and feet, and learning to love well.
Who was your favorite character and why?
the girl. )(...and the mother & old sister!)
She was a good pivotal charachter.
What about Nicola Barber’s performance did you like?
refreshing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried when the old man passed; point taken.
Any additional comments?
"you loved well" in the end summed it up.
Life is messy, you love in a messy world, you will end up doing pretty good in the end.
man, wish others can read this.

Fantastic Story
Revisado: 01-06-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would definately change the lingo. Normal folk usually don't catch christian-eze speak. Gotta speak to everyone and not put yourself in a niche. Keep true, just round the edges a bit.
What did you like best about this story?
reconciliation
What three words best describe Jackie Schlicher’s voice?
way cool.
Was Stand by Me worth the listening time?
I believe so.
Any additional comments?
love the inner city portions, the reconciliation for the daughter's part could have been developed a bit more. Some parts were not written as well, if that makes sense.

Real reporter was authentic in his story. THANKYOU
Revisado: 01-06-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The reporter had opinions, however, they didn't taint his reporting-ability in this story.
He reported what others said and how he responded and we filled in the rest. perfecto!
What did you like best about this story?
heartland "crunchy around the outside, soft on the inside". Makes me want to move to the midwest.
Have you listened to any of Chris Brinkley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yup. it kept me entertained all the way through.
Any additional comments?
I liked the out-takes at the end; it wrapped it up. You gave everyone a good report.

Fantastic Storyline. Ending Resolution Needs...
Revisado: 01-06-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This left me hungry to learn more about the Italian perspective to WWII and their involvement. The love story was beautiful. Plot beautiful. Love scenes droned on and on and took way too much time on the love than tying up loose ends.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Garden of Letters?
The best memories are Husband's bond with his belated wife (extended family dissapeared after baby and mom dies...), african adopted child (what happened?) Viola and musical pieces were fantastic. Classic Book store. Chuck full of good stuff. stay in vienna was foggy and got lost for me.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite 'scene' is wrapping up the beginning scene and tying it into where it was in the book. (am I weird or what?).
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I wanted more resolution. This left me with a sense of wanting to know: where's mom? How did she 'bounce back' so quickly to fall in love with the doctor (count days on the calendar to drop true love off the list and move over to a doctor).
Any additional comments?
I am glad the doctor never came off as a 'hero', but a servant of healing inside and out, that he was shrewd, but tender hearted. time to heal. Italian bookstore was fun!
Ditch the long steamy scenes; they took extra time from the plot.
