Amazing storytelling
Revisado: 02-08-25
The way that Michener weaves a story through time is magical. Narration took a bit to get used. It seemed robotic at first, but it improved. Great listen!

This is my favorite Follett book yet! I love the relatable characters. The Waterloo scene dragged a bit, but it was worth it for the rest of the story!

Revisado: 03-06-24
I wanted to love this book so much. However, I feel like nothing actually happened until about 12 hours of listening. It was one of the slowest stories I’ve ever listened to. I know it’s gotten rave reviews, but it wasn’t for me!

Thought-provoking with a twist
Revisado: 05-14-19
I loved this book! I wasn’t so sure at first, didn’t love the narrator’s voice for the main character, but I quickly got used to it. I found this to be a great read about the human spirit, sparking the debate of nature vs. nurture. I didn’t get bored, and had changed my mind so many times that I was shocked at the end. I definitely recommend!

Revisado: 11-24-18
As always, Edward Rutherford doesn’t disappoint. His tales pull you into the history of a place, making every story relevant to current day listeners. As I am interested in genealogy, and this book goes into my ancestors and names families, I found it especially intriguing. Despite being a lengthy listen, I never got bored!

I found this to be a riveting novel full of valuable lessons. Working in education, we have been discussing trauma-informed practice and this book reminded me of our population at every turn. I was glued to my car radio the entire time and couldn’t stop thinking about Eleanor her story. I HIGHLY recommend this book!
