Historia
The wait is over. After a two-year investigation, the results of The Mueller Report have been released to the public. Now listen to an audio version of one of the most talked about government documents in history. These are the redacted findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team, which was tasked with investigating Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, including exploring any links or coordination between President Donald J. Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and the Russian government.

I want to thank Audilbe for making this available
Revisado: 07-22-19
I was quite surprised. I expected the report to be very "dry" listening, but was pleasantly surprised it held my interest. I only wish every American would read or listen to it. It ties together all the bits and pieces we have been fed by the news media into a complete picture. And, no, you were not crazy, it really happened. It's like we are living in a Tom Clancy novel.

Historia
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.

Move over Berstein and Woodward,Jane Mayer is here
Revisado: 07-12-16
Jane Mayer has, at great personal risk, unmasked the champions of greed and arrogance behind our dysfunctional government. Her reporting not only names names, but gives you background to understand the motivations of the “players”.
No matter what side of the fence you are on, this is a must read. We all need to understand the forces that are trying to manipulate our opinions.
As a resident of Kansas I am living in the middle of the Koch "experiment" with no income tax on businesses ( the employees still pay) and no regulation. It's not sustainable....but maybe that is the ultimate plan

Historia
The great thing about Washington is no matter how many elections you lose, how many times you're indicted, how many scandals you've been tainted by, well, the great thing is you can always eat lunch in that town again. What keeps the permanent government spinning on its carousel is the freedom of shamelessness, and that mother's milk of politics, cash. What Julia Phillips did for Hollywood, Timothy Crouse did for journalists, and Michael Lewis did for Wall Street, Mark Leibovich does for our nation's capital.

I was expecting some insight to the political workings of Washington DC. What he delivers is old news. We know that most politicians that go to Washington stay in Washington and become power brokers.

Historia
January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

I did not like the format. The story was told in letters back and forth between the characters. It was a nice little love story with historical background, but had no "punch".

Historia
In his best-selling The Russians, Hedrick Smith took millions of readers inside the Soviet Union. In The Power Game, he took us inside Washington’s corridors of power. Now Smith takes us across America to show how seismic changes, sparked by a sequence of landmark political and economic decisions, have transformed America. As only a veteran reporter can, Smith fits the puzzle together, starting with Lewis Powell’s provocative memo that triggered a political rebellion that dramatically altered the landscape of power from then until today.

He ties it all together
Revisado: 10-08-12
I have been looking for this book for a long time. I have read many books looking for the answer to how we got here (in this economical mess) and why are we stuck. Each book seemed only to deal with a small part of the problem. Hedrick Smith puts the puzzle together for us. He explains the legislation, motivation behind it, and the players responsible for it. He deals with each sector of the economy, because there is no one culprit. He debunks many of the "sound bite" reasons given by our politicians for our lack of progress out of the woods.

Historia
The Great Recession that began in 2007 is now more than four years old - and counting. Some 24 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed, and at recent rates of job creation we won’t be back to normal levels of employment until late this decade. This is a tragedy. Do we have to accept it? "No!" is the resounding answer given by Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman in this call to arms. We have seen this situation before and we know how to fix it; all we lack is the political will to take action.

Revisado: 07-13-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This a must read. We all need to educate ourselves. There is too much conflicting noise on the airways. Mr Krugman has done an excellent job explaining how we got into this economical mess. And his voice is one of sanity on the road out of the mess. Do yourself a favor and listen.
I agree with him in that we have been lead down this path by greed and ignorance.

It's June 1941, and the low point of the war. England throws wave after wave of RAF bombers across the Channel, but somehow the Luftwaffe is able to shoot them down at will. The skies, indeed, the war itself seem to belong to Hitler.

Suspense
Revisado: 03-13-12
What made the experience of listening to Hornet Flight the most enjoyable?
Ken Follett has a wonderful way of combining history and fiction. His characters are well developed and John Lee excels at bringing them to life.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot has many twist and turns which captures the imagination, but is predictible. I don't look to Mr Follett for suprise endings, but rather to be carried back to the times and places in which he sets his stories.
