Historia
For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. And then there are the billions looking to the sky and wondering how a thing that was always just there is now... something absolutely impossible.

A very Scalzi Thought Exercise
Revisado: 04-07-25
First and foremost, this is a GOOD book! Wil Wheaton and Scalzi are amazing as always. Now. This book is COMPLETELY different than anything else he’s written. Don’t expect hard science. Instead, expect a FUN and THOUGHTFUL book that is a pure joy

Least favorite of the series, but not a skip.
Revisado: 01-28-25
This is my second trek through the iron Druid chronicles. I’d hoped I’d enjoy this particular book more on my second read. Nope. Slow moving and meandering. It’s not BAD. It’s just a lot of filler

Historia
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Historia
In Daretana’s greatest mansion, a high imperial officer lies dead—killed, to all appearances, when a tree erupted from his body. Even here at the Empire’s borders, where contagions abound and the blood of the leviathans works strange magical changes, it’s a death both terrifying and impossible. Assigned to investigate is Ana Dolabra, a detective whose reputation for brilliance is matched only by her eccentricities. Rumor has it that she wears a blindfold at all times, and that she can solve impossible cases without even stepping outside the walls of her home.

Historia
Up until this morning, the biggest thing Josh had to worry about was completing Shadow Souls on sadistic difficulty. Oh, and his upcoming exams. That was before he caught the attention of a planet of intergalactic trial-by-combat lawyers that use giant mechs to fight their legal battles. Now he has bigger things to worry about. Much, much bigger. The only advantage he has is his trusty games controller, but will it be enough to beat a Level 10 Behemoth?

Historia
Inheriting your uncle's supervillain business is more complicated than you might think. Particularly when you discover who's running the place. Charlie's life is going nowhere fast. A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

Soothed my Soul
Revisado: 09-29-23
This is one of those novels that came around at the perfect time in my life. I'd just lost my own little buddy, and desperately missed his presence. While this is not an entirely pet centric story, it's attention to detail, humor, and wonderful narration helped heal me in a truly unexpected way. Thank you Mr. Scalzi and Mr. Wheaton. This was a Mitzvah.

Historia
In 2008, nine mountaineers failed to return from a winter backpacking trip in the New Mexico mountains. At their final campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing their eyes. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave.

Just confused why it's still a "Nora Kelly Novel"
Revisado: 09-05-23
Thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the narration was superb. My only critique is that these do NOT feel like "Nora Kelly Novels." "Agent Swanson Investigations" would be far more apt, and would allow for this particular world to expand. As well, the epilogue was THOROUGHLY needed for a satisfactory ending.

Historia
Gabe Skelter has a temper, which he likes to imagine has the effect of causing people to fear and respect him. On the contrary, his pudgy, underdeveloped body and negative personality make him more your standard outcast teenager. Worse still, he kinda knows what a jerkweed he actually is. Then, in the middle of a class trip, Gabe finds himself spirited away to Regaia: a world of magic, mayhem, and nerd-tastic adventure. Naturally, he’s completely ill-prepared. But in this realm, he’s a monstrous, muscular man of action.
