The author did an EXCELLENT job organizing all the many characters. I didn’t get confused once. The story line is very believable and well executed. The twist and turns kept you interested. I hope you enjoy this book as I did listening to it.

Not How I Thought It Would End
Revisado: 07-30-24
I kept on thinking “Jack” would show his evil side… you’ll need to read if he does.
Fast moving. Didn’t want to stop listening and when it was over…. I didn’t want it to end. As most of us know, women are the backbone of the family and this mother represents what the majority of mothers would do to protect and save her children. I highly recommend this book. I’m going to look for more books by this author. Enjoy!

Revisado: 04-03-24
Oh my goodness… where to begin. First it is well written and the person reading does a great job. I felt like I was there with these amazing heroines! Frankie, Ethel and Barbara feel like friends to me now. Ms. Hannah truly captured the “men’s world” of thinking. Let us NEVER forget the Brave Women who serve and protect our country especially those who died doing so. I thank you and salute you brave women.

Amazing
Revisado: 01-23-24
I love history, the good the bad and the ugly of it. This book is about the bad and the ugly of WW II. I knew about the women who, for the most part, were forced to have relations with Natzi SS Officers in order to create a “pure” nation however I haven’t come across a novel that discussed this horrible mission. This book is about love and loyalty and how people can change their thinking and make a horrible situation better. Enjoy

Historia
When Misty was six years old, her family started to live and dress like the Amish. Misty and her sister were kept as slaves on a mountain ranch where they were subjected to almost complete isolation, sexual abuse, and extreme physical violence. When Misty reached her teens, her parents feared she and her sister would escape and took them to an Amish community where they were adopted and became baptized members. Misty was devastated to once again find herself in a world of fear, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse.

Sad but True
Revisado: 01-13-24
It’s tragic to hear sexual abuse happen to anyone but when you hear that it happens in an Amish community you are even more shocked because the Amish holds themselves to a higher moral code. No doubt that if it was women preforming these horrific sexual acts the punishment would be so much greater. When the punishment is no more than a slap on the hand for these sexual predators then it doesn’t stop. So many times the victims become the predators. You know the boys and men talk among themselves about the sexual abuse happening in the community and when a man is called out by the community everyone finds out.
Why is the Amish moral code of conduct lowered for rape and physical violence towards women and children? That is what baffles me.

This book is a good listen but wait until you are about half way through….. I played back a few times because I didn’t see what was coming and I am very good at hearing subtle comments and figuring out what is going to happen. This book had several “what the heck’s” in it and the closer you get to the end …….. Excellent listen book. Enjoy!
