When you reject the sin of empathy, you reject the manipulation of the media, the manipulation of family and friends, and most importantly, the manipulation of your own heart.

Historia
Has something indeed happened to evangelical theology and to evangelical churches? According to David Wells, the evidence indicates that evangelical pastors have abandoned their traditional role as ministers of the Word to become therapists and "managers of the small enterprises we call churches". Along with their parishioners, they have abandoned genuine Christianity and biblical truth in favor of the sort of inner-directed experiential religion that now pervades Western society.

We should have listened then
Revisado: 09-03-24
this book was written sometime in the early '90s and unfortunately everything that Mr Wells postulated and saw the effects of have only continued to our day. I really enjoyed getting a deeper historical understanding how our culture has stripped theology from the church as a whole.

Historia
LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well, not since a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner, Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for duty - until he meets his new partner. Maggie is not doing so well, either. The German shepherd survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before she lost her handler to an IED and sniper attack, and her PTSD is as bad as Scott’s. They are each other’s last chance.

Could not stop listening
Revisado: 06-09-13
What was one of the most memorable moments of Suspect?
Within the first 5min I was hooked.
Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?
Meggy, The dog, (read the rest of the review)
Any additional comments?
I am not a Dog person, and this books subplot revolved around a dog and her owner, even going as far as having a complete sections of the book narrated as first person from the dogs prospective. At first I thought it was sort of strange, but I ended up feeling like it was very insightful. Suspect, kept me engaged, laughing and rooting for the characters the whole time. I really enjoyed this book.
