Historia
Melanie Donavan is in love with writing, in love with the charming borrowed cottage on Swan Lake, and is accompanied by part of her beloved collection of vintage purses and designer shoes. When a surprisingly cute guy knocks on her screen door one morning, could it be romance knocking? She has heard echoes of the young musician’s singing from across the lake. Nor she’s curious to visit the camp where he is living. Is it a scout or drama camp, a spa or rehab? It turns out to be a private estate.

Sweet and mysterious
Revisado: 07-18-24
Summer Love Song is so sweet. The MC is funny and quirky and kind. I liked her. She is a writer, working on her book while staying at a lake house. Throughout the story she meets and makes new friends, one who turns into a love interest…and a mermaid? That’s the mystery she’s determined to solve.
This was a short, fast paced story and I was happy to have received the audiobook version because the narrator did a great job at portraying the MC the way I envisioned her in my mind. The narrators voice is young and quirky and her performance allowed me to visualize the story as a sweet romance movie.

I needed this giggle!
Revisado: 12-12-22
Miles has some interesting friends in this story but he learns a lot from them. I had several moments of giggles throughout this book, especially the ending. It’s well-written and the narrator was awesome. He portrayed the character very well and his performance was on-point.

Historia
At four years old, Selys Rivera’s life had already changed forever. As her biological parents separated, she had to leave the comforts of her Puerto Rican homeland for the unknown landscape waiting for her in Massachusetts. In An Unconscious Mestiza: A Collection of Memoir Stories, Rivera openly shares her mental health challenges and grief as she tries to figure out what being Puerto Rican, American, and a (cisgender) woman means to her. Her shattered youth and move to a new culture created the challenges that she faces in the stories that unfold into an intricate mosaic.

Words worth listening to
Revisado: 09-02-22
As a fellow light-skinned Puerto Rican woman, I took this book to heart. It resonated with me in so many ways and I don’t think I ever felt that with any story I’ve ever read. The authors writing style is so eloquent and impressive. Her stories felt relatable, almost as if she was telling my own.
I listened to the audiobook where she, herself narrates and tells her stories in a way that gets you to understand and feel the emotion along with her. This book is for anyone who ever felt like they didn’t fit in, for anyone trying to find acceptance into a community or finding culture. It’s about love and it’s about belonging. I think any reader will find something within these stories that will resonate with them. I would definitely recommend this book!
