Interesting story line but depressing

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the reader for sure. While he was reading people talking he seemed to almost be whispering. It really got on my nerves. Also he sounded extremely depressed while reading the story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Will Patton?

Not sure. I won't search him out, that is for sure.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Possibly.

Any additional comments?

This book had some good aspects as far as how people react to tragedies and how creative they can be when coping. But I thought the reader just made it way too depressing.

My Life by Lee Tannen and how Lucy played a part.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I can't imagine anyone really enjoying this book if they buy it to get some insight on Lucille Ball.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lee Tannen again?

Absolutely not.

What didn’t you like about Lee Tannen’s performance?

He comes across as a very flaming Jewish self absorbed gay man. I have nothing against these traits individually but all together they were too over done.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from I Loved Lucy?

His impressions of her.

Please don't waste your time or money on this book. There are better ones available.

Great personal histories

If you could sum up Hearts Touched by Fire in three words, what would they be?

Emotional, riveting, interesting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I have been following Robert E. Lee's history a little more. Although he/or his writings are not in this book, it was interesting to hear other people's versions of him and his actions.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Most of the readers voices are very enjoyable although there is one of them I don't enjoy as much. I am not familiar with his name either.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are several places in the book that are touching, but for the most part it is basic history covered.

What did you love best about Battle Cry of Freedom: Volume 1?

I enjoyed all the different perspectives in this book. Listening to Northern and Southern soldiers both and their observations (sometimes on the same battles).

Who was your favorite character and why?

Not sure if I had a favorite but U.S. Grant was prolific in his writings.

What aspect of Jonathan Davis’s performance would you have changed?

I enjoyed most of the readers and their inflections, there was one reader I didn't really enjoy the voice or cadence of, but overall it was good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing outstanding to sway me either way in particular. I was moved by the scenes of the surrender at Appomattox though.

What did you love best about Recollections and Letters of General Robert E. Lee?

I enjoyed hearing the closeness General Lee had with his family. The personal touches of reading his actual letters was an enjoyable way to learn the mans personality.

Who was your favorite character and why?

General Lee obviously was my favorite, but after that probably his sons.

Which scene was your favorite?

One of them was how he responded to the loss of his fellow general and friend, General Stonewall Jackson.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was really moved by his very earnest faith and how he wasn't afraid to show it.

What did you love best about On Secret Service?

I enjoyed all the twists to the story but still keeping real life history intertwined.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Not sure which agent I enjoyed best. My least is Pinkerton though.

Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I enjoy the readers voice, nice and smooth, enjoyable to listen to for long periods.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

A very enlightening history lesson.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The time was very well spent. A good history lesson most people are not fully aware of.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

I enjoyed the comparisons made between the two Presidents.

What about Scott Moore’s performance did you like?

Scott has an easy voice to listen to as well as good cadence to his voice.

Did Theodore and Woodrow inspire you to do anything?

Pay more attention to what is really being done by people in office as opposed to what they say.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to be better than the print version?

I would say it is as good.

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoy the humor.

What about Stephen Fry’s performance did you like?

I thought Mr. Fry did fine on his performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no, not really. Not a "moving" book. I do really enjoy the British humor and that is why I listened to it.

Fascinating story of strength

What did you love best about Unbroken?

I enjoyed hearing all the details whether good or bad about WWII and this mans life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Unbroken?

The turn around after surviving POW camp and finding God.

What does Edward Herrmann bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Herrmann has a nice enjoyable voice to listen too. Knowing his voice ahead of time made it an easy choice to purchase this book.

There were several.
