Historia
You remember the story: some locations did better than others on Covid because some locations followed the rules, and others foolishly ignored them. Covid spread was your fault, you science hater! There is precisely zero evidence behind any aspect of this morality play, which is demolished by this book. Diary of a Psychosis is different from all other books on Covid: it traces the development of the government response as it happened, bit by bit, and subjects it to relentless scrutiny: did any of it do any good?

An excellent chronicling of the progression of the covid madness.

I liked how well the author chronicled the progression of the covid hysteria, and I hope it helps us to avoid similar madness in the future.

Historia
From the United States and Britain to continental Europe and beyond, liberal democracy is under siege, while authoritarianism is on the rise. In Twilight of Democracy, Anne Applebaum, an award-winning historian of Soviet atrocities who was one of the first American journalists to raise an alarm about antidemocratic trends in the West, explains the lure of nationalism and autocracy. In this captivating essay, she contends that political systems with radically simple beliefs are inherently appealing, especially when they benefit the loyal to the exclusion of everyone else.

specious reasoning
Revisado: 08-15-23
Frustrating to listen to all her false equivalencies . She tries to use every foreign totalitarian she can find with remotely similar rhetoric to Trump to paint Trump and his supporters as totalitarians, even though she couldn't cite any actual totalitarian actions taken by Trump while he was in office. Meanwhile, she treats the totalitarian actions of politicians on the left as if there was nothing to see, and they were just engaging in the normal democratic process. This book was pure leftist propaganda by an author proclaiming herself to be "center right".

Historia
For over a decade, philosopher and energy expert Alex Epstein has predicted that any negative impacts of fossil fuel use on our climate will be outweighed by the unique benefits of fossil fuels to human flourishing--including their unrivaled ability to provide low-cost, reliable energy to billions of people around the world, especially the world’s poorest people. And contrary to what we hear from media “experts” about today’s “renewable revolution” and “climate emergency,” reality has proven Epstein right.

repetitive, but great information
Revisado: 02-01-23
The first few chapters were an intro to the rest of the book. It was actually excellent once he got into the specifics, but I just couldn't help thinking that he was repetitive at times. It may just be that some of the points he was making were worth repeating.

Historia
Rothbard's posthumous masterpiece is the definitive book on the Progressives. It will soon be the must read study of this dreadful time in our past. (from the foreword by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano) The current relationship between the modern state and the economy has its roots in the Progressive Era. (from the introduction by Patrick Newman) In short, the Progressive Era ushered the modern American politico-economic system into being. (from the preface by Murray N. Rothbard)

Almost too much information
Revisado: 07-10-21
Very informative, but almost too much to keep up with in an audiobook. British pronunciation of some words also adds to the difficulty.
