Historia
In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself. When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.

The audio of this story is a treat. While I had read the book and loved it previously, the audio really brought it to life. I also found the included novella riveting and a nice surprise.

Great story made even better on audio!
Revisado: 06-23-23
I’m so glad I bought this to follow on my listen if the first 3 in this fun series. I’d also read the Arrows edge series, which is my favorite of all MC stories - ever. Although this is a stand alone, it is fun to see how Ms Barker brings the light, future touch of both series into this one.
And suspense? I sat in the car to finish out the chapters several times, and choked back a near tear at one point near the end. One of my favorite stories this year.
Based on my experience with arrows edge and this series, I bought another of hers… I’ll review as I finish listening to those. (I’m stingy with my audio purchases so that’s saying something.
Highly recommend!

Riveting story - one of the "best in series"
Revisado: 04-27-23
“Mac” – book 9 - is an engaging, engrossing Anna Del Mar/ Alpha heroes story. It now ranks as one of my favorites. This story had it all – great characters, solid dialogue, a suspenseful story line that worked very well, and great pacing.
Every time I had to step away... I was eager to get back to listening to it! Every chapter was enticing me to “listen a little longer.” I looked forward to the drives, the dishes (yes, even that) and other tasks that let me have a few more minutes with one of my favorite couples.
I will point out that you really will benefit from the epilogue to book 8 (Kane) where the real primary character is introduced to Mac. She’s the glue that keeps Mac and Danika trying to make it against all odds.
If I can pick on one point - the backstory presented in that epilogue to Kane – should have been put at the beginning of this story, as well. “Mac” would be even stronger, with that charming intro giving you a helpful boost into this tale.
I do give this book my highest recommendation!

Historia
Kane Lancaster is a decorated SEAL about to be prosecuted for refusing to leave his allies behind, including the brave woman who taught him what love really means. Alix Duran is a courageous doctor who’s risked everything to help the refugees fleeing a brutal regime, a humanitarian who’s been betrayed and abandoned in the clutches of a vicious warlord. A desperate rescue behind enemy lines may be her only salvation, but love might not be enough to survive this mission.

Kane: a "never leave anyone behind" love story
Revisado: 04-20-23
This is book #8 in the Alpha Heroes series, and I’ve been working my way through them in order. I’ve loved every other book – and listened to them all in audio, and found them riveting. I love the Battle Brothers, love what they stand for, and the premise of the books. Kane is a dedicated and loyal warrior for what he believes in, and Alix is another strong and determined heroine.
Kane is a great story of love and never leaving anyone behind. However, I wish I’d have read it as a e-book, where I could skip ahead a little as needed. Kane is still a recommended audio book. Also, I should have listened to this one immediately after the previous Battle brothers’ books. (I had a 3 month gap).
Note that my feeling that the detail was a little too rich and slowed the plot progress, is entirely my take on it. I’m a plot reader and listener, and I like crisper dialogue. There were places where three adjectives were used to describe an item where one would have sufficed, slowing down the pace. Each of us has different tastes, and the great, fast-paced action later more than made up for the first part.
Persevere – it gets much faster paced in the last portion of the audio book, and becomes riveting. It also sets up the next book (Mac) nicely, and I’m looking forward to listening to it.
I do recommend the book, and look forward to listening to the rest of the series. This is my honest review, based upon a free copy.

Love the audio of this romantic, suspenseful story
Revisado: 04-08-23
First, Arrow's Edge is the series that changed my mind about the Motorcycle Club genre. It was my first MC series, and still the best. Definitely made me a convert willing to try other MC series. Initially, I tried it because I'd loved Freya's other stories; Highly recommend.
And each story gets better and better. I'd read the eBook of "Edge of Fear" last year, and jumped at the chance to listen to the audio as I'm revisiting the entire series (#6 just came out). This specific one is a favorite. I've always had a soft spot for the "save a kid and dogs that are unadoptable" contexts... and "Edge of Fear" builds on that part of the Arrow's Edge club's focus.
In particular, this audio grabs you and doesn't let you go.... Tse and Sophia find their way from an unlikely couple to caring so deeply for each other, that it brought tears to me (a rare thing). Everyone wishes to find their other who "sees" you like Tse understands Sophia. Sophia pulls Tse to hope and joy. And she holds her own even in tough situations.
The heat? Off the charts and his renouncing of his man wh0re ways - and turning all that experience into making her happy - was one of the best. It's been done before but nobody does it better than Freya, both integrating the sizzle into the story, smexily making his past experience become focused on making her "happier," while the change to a one-woman man completely believable. The suspense and romance were well balanced, and the book held my interest with the story and suspense (although you know it's going to be a HEA).
I enjoy the way the plot is solid, the characters real and nuanced, and the story is well-written. I'm also a fan of great series, where you can read them stand alone but the richness of the group of books together adds to the enjoyment. So yes, this is stand alone, but I loved hearing the players from previous books reappear... so I'd recommend starting from book 1.
This writer and series are all about protective, alpha, rough edged men and feisty, strong women - both with understandable, real baggage and bodies. If you are tired of formulaic books that could have been written with a cookie cutter, you will LOVE this change of pace.
The narration was good - I could see the characters sounding exactly like that, and it added to the overall story experience. There were a couple of minor quirks - the female voice seemed to pronounce "Tse" differently than the male voice, but that's minor. Because the book was written, I think, for print, there must have been "dividers" between sections within the chapters... (a "dinkus"). That means that sometimes the transitions between paragraphs took me a minute to catch on to. (there's no "later" or other cue that between one paragraph, they've moved time of day or location). Again, minor. Definitely outweighed by the smooth and pitch-perfect match of the narrators with the characters, IMHO.
This is my honest review based upon an ARC audio.

Billionaires, Navy SEALs, ex-lovers seeking revenge, terrorists, sultans, and Indian Ocean pirates. This five-book series begins with an improbable beginning (a one night stand) and winds up in a climax of beauty, butterflies, and a happily-ever-after worth dying for. Enjoy the same couple: Marco Gambini, former Navy SEAL stripped of half his wealth who owns and operates a global security rescue team, and Shannon Marr, former weather girl at a Tampa television station.

Bonefrog - a roller coaster of a suspense ride!
Revisado: 03-14-23
Suspense – twists and unexpected turns, and protective, former military men – check and check… Plus, I’m loving the narration - J.D. Hart brings the characters to life. His voice delivers the right edge – joy, irritation, strength at all the right times.
There is so much to enjoy in this binge-able series. This is my second series set of Sharon Hamilton’s books that I’ve listened to as audio books, and as always, the characters keep you engaged and rooting for them. The 27 hours flew by… and there were enough of those unexpected twists to make me listen to “just one more minute” often!
I’d recommend this, and had only one tiny detail on the characters. I was comparing this story series to the “Seal brotherhood legacy books” series. That had very strong relationships within each couple, and a balance of what each partner brought to their relationship. Marco and Shannon were a bit of an age gap, billionaire and naïve couple, and while that added to the suspense, it was also not the strong couple working together that "I" prefer. But their sizzle and the overall, gripping "ride" completely outweighs that detail.
The story and pace is terrific, and this delivers enthralling suspense – expect to enjoy every minute.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Riveting, great balance of romance & suspense
Revisado: 02-22-23
Love a multiple book set that lets you flow from one great story to the next in a series? Check.
Enjoy a protective, romantic hero with character yet realism in his behaviors? Check x 4.
Want female characters that are not ditzy, but strong and believable, and add value to their families and friendships? Check.
(don't miss the bats in the "Deal with the Devil..." )
Want enough suspense to keep you engaged and listening, diverting your attention from (whatever mundane task you have to do...)? Check.
Want some sizzle to keep it interesting? This has an "open door" heat index rivaling Texas in July....Check!
In other words, for me, this set was a great way to listen to a series. I loved the narration - he made the story come alive - it was the way the stories were knit together. These are not simple happy stories - you live through their ups and downs, there is an ultimately good ending, but a journey I appreciated to get there.
One thing I do recommend? "Watery Grave" - the first book - is built on the Seal Brotherhood series, 10 years later, and the many couples that emerged from those stories. It could be a spoiler to read/listen to any of these 4 legacy books - but in particular, Watery Grave, if you then intend to read / listen to the originals series.
I did receive a free "ARC" of this in exchange for my honest review. However, this series would be well worth spending one of my Audible credits on - and I give it my recommendation.
I will be going back and buying the earlier books...the journey to their now-happy lives will be engrossing!

Revisado: 12-21-22
I’m newish to audiobooks, but so far I’ve listened to five series (and some stand alone). I will say, this series (2 audiobooks in) is a new favorite. I like it even better than the wolf ranch series in terms of suspense. (Same narrator) I am judiciously budgeting those credits, and this was definitely worth it. (And my companion for the pre-Christmas cleaning, win win on getting that done). If you like their work, and can multitask while fanning yourself during the spicy interludes. It’s a great choice!

Although the Arrow's Edge MC stays mostly on the right side of the law since Ouray took the gavel, the appearance of the feds at their gate can still rattle his cage. Grabbed me and kept me hooked…
Revisado: 12-08-22
A great audiobook. I’ve listened to others that were a slog. This one was riveting, flowed well, solid narration, and was so enjoyable that I stayed up to finish it! In the 4 months I’ve had audible, none of my previous books have been as good. I’m going back to catch the others in this series. I listened to but did not find the northern lights series as suspenseful, so now I know what I like (suspense!!). I recommend this one.
