Historia
After years as a court magician and interdimensional hero, Skeeve needed a rest. So he took some time off to study magic and relax. When a few months later several members of the M.Y.T.H. Inc. Team each ask him to train some talented, young magicians in "practical magic", he has to agree. But after the assassins attack and a manticore tries to eat them, the Khlad mage soon discovers that there is more going on than learning. His students are preparing for a very deadly magical game, and you won't believe where.

Another ask a question first book
Revisado: 10-18-24
As with previous books, asking a few questions (why the rush, what makes this life or death) would have made this story better, because it would have been shorter. This was so annoying that I had to stop. Not sure I can finish it either.

Historia
Aahz gets an unwelcome visit from two blue-skinned bruisers and a small magician wanting Skeeve to cough up the dough for an extremely large bill that he skipped out on. Knowing that Skeeve has many faults, but welshing on a debt is not one of them, he enlists the aid of Chumley and Massha to go with him to the last place any self-respecting pervert would ever visit...the mall! Once there, they discover that the mall rats have created a scheme to steal customers' credit cards.

How many times can you screw up...?
Revisado: 10-18-24
This book got to be so frustrating. Every time that the (heroes) are about to catch one of the bad guys, somebody screws up. For over 9 hours. That was ridiculous. And why is everybody working so hard to protect Skeeve? He is not some delicate wallflower that cannot handle the world, but they constantly said that they wanted to protect him from what is happening.
As far as the narrator is concerned, I feel like he had to have been living under a bridge most of his life. The words that he mispronounces are irritating. What is a buh-sill-isk? The word is ba-se-lisk/ Basilisk. It is not that hard. Averred does not seem that difficult either, does it. But no... And there are others. Not a fan.

Historia
Skeeve needs more than magic to solve a matter of Murder and Myth-tery. He’s in a real pickle this time. His green, scaly partner, Aahz, has disappeared, and it looks like foul play. Finding Aahz ought to be a snap for a talented magician like Skeeve, especially with a sassy apprentice and a dumb-but-brawny bodyguard along for the ride. The trouble is, they're sleuthing in another dimension that makes the Bazaar on Deva look tame!

The narrator really does not get what he's reading
Revisado: 09-17-24
The person narrating this novel (and the others really) does not seem to get what he is reading. There is a scene in the Bazaar where a Deveel has a collection of genies in bottles. Instead of pronouncing djinn as jinn (which is how it is supposed to be pronounced), he says D-Gin. Therefore, the joke about Calvin being the latest thing in jeans is completely lost. There are other words that he tragically mispronounces as well.

Historia
Know thy enemy. That's what the wisdom of history teaches us. And Adolf Hitler was surely the greatest enemy ever faced by modern civilization. Over half a century later, the horror, fascination, and questions still linger: How could a man like Hitler and a movement like Nazism come to power in 20th-century Germany – an industrially developed country with a highly educated population? How were the Nazis able to establish the foundations of a totalitarian regime in such a short time and hurl all of Europe – and the world – into a devastating war that would consume so many millions of lives? Professor Childers has designed this gripping 12-lecture course to shed light on these and other questions that have plagued generations.

How many times can you say "um" in a sentence?
Revisado: 09-28-23
In as much as it is possible, I liked the material. I just did not like the way that it was presented. He said "um" and "hm" and "uh" more than he said anything else. It seemed like he was not reading the material but was just winging it, and did not know if very well. Extremely distracting.

I gave up. I could not listen to her anymore.
Revisado: 09-06-23
I have been listening to this series from the beginning, and have hated the narrator from the beginning. This story finally broke me. I could not finish listening to it, and will not finish the series, sadly.
During the last book, the bad guy Murat was not a whiny British character with a stick up his butt. He was in this one. She changed the way that she read him, to the point that I wanted to smack her. And Kristen? If she was anything like this when Mark met her, how did he not stab her in the throat and bury her in the desert.
I am sad that this woman was allowed to narrate these books without anybody actually listening to what she did, how she pronounced words, etc. She totally killed this series for me.

Her voice is killing me
Revisado: 08-30-23
I listened to the original Book of Swords trilogy and really liked it. The author was great, and he did a good job with the book, the concept and the names. It is too bad that neither the reader or the producer of the Lost Swords series could not take the time to listen to those before they approached this project. The reader, Cynthia Barrett, was AWFUL. She was overly dramatic when she did not need to be, her cadence and rhythms were disconcerting. And now she is mispronouncing words that show she is not paying any attention and does not care about what she is reading. She used the word sentinent for sentient. She pronounces gunwales as gun-whales. I live in the desert and I know that she is doing it wrong.
I wish that I had listened to this before I bought the rest of the books, because I would not have. I have a hard time getting past her voice and style to enjoy the book. I may not be able to finish the last few books. So whiny and nasally.

Long ago, the gods forged Twelve Swords of Power and threw them on the gameboard of life to watch men scramble. But they had forged too well: The Swords could kill the gods themselves. Now the gods gone, the Swords are scattered across the land, some held by those of good heart...others by those whose purposes are evil...and one, Sightblinder, is held by Arnfinn, a young country boy who knows nothing of the Tale of Swords or of Sightblinder's power; to make the viewer see that which he most desires - or most fears.

Historia
Returning to the milieu of his Swords trilogy, Saberhagen offers a new scenario. The gods have withdrawn from the human world and the 12 Swords of Power they had forged are now scattered, lost and hidden. The weapons are still coveted, though, by men like Baron Amintor, who has lost one kingdom and now sees them as the means to another. No scruples stop him from stealing the sword Woundhealer from the White Temple, where its powers were offered to cure all pilgrims.

It got very tedious
Revisado: 02-14-23
I was only able to listen to a portion of the first story before I gave up. The reader was really great, but the story got so tedious. "I love her. I hate her. I love her. I hate myself. I love her. I hate everybody." I just could not.
