Pretty Good
Revisado: 07-19-20
I read alot of really unhappy reviews on this but I decided to give it a try. The narrator does have a breathy voice but it seemed to go well with the tone of the author. I did hear a smack/pop of the lips more than a couple times but it didn't really bother me. I enjoyed the story overall. I am gonna continue the series and see where it takes me.

Revisado: 11-19-16
This book is really good, but you should be aware that a narrator speaks throughout the entire book as if you were watching a play and someone off stage describes the new scene briefly. If you think that might be annoying then don't choose this book. I personally enjoyed it and I was annoyed with the narrator at the start but then I got used to it.

I absolutely loved it. The tale of a broken man fighting father time eternally while a mad man seeks to be a God, to see God, to know all that God knows.

I liked it and I didn't.
Revisado: 05-14-15
I certainly found it interesting but I didn't really feel like anyone was in danger mostly just kind of creepy stuff locked away in vaults or other dimensions. I guess my problem is more time was spent on the mechanics of this logical explanation of magic than trying to freak me out that someone/everyone was in peril.

Historia
Sandman Slim must save himself - and the entire world - from the wrath of some enraged and vengeful ancient gods in this sixth high-octane adventure in the New York Times best-selling series. Being a half-human, half-angel nephilim with a bad rep and a worse attitude - not to mention temporarily playing Lucifer - James Stark, aka Sandman Slim, has made a few enemies. None, though, are as fearsome as the vindictive Angra Om Ya - the old gods.

It needed a bit more God fight I think...
Revisado: 11-22-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Let me start out saying I love this series and Sandman Slim. Every single book, till this one I would give 5 stars all the way. This book wasn't "bad". The take down of the old gods just seemed way to easy and the battle between our god against the old gods just seemed way to anti climactic. I expected more of a blowout and more magical demon fighting and whatnot. But still I think Richard Kadrey is a great author.
Did MacLeod Andrews do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes, he is a great voice actor. I sometimes will give a book a chance simply because he does the voice work.
Any additional comments?
I thought it was an okay read. But I mean it was god fighting Old gods! I expected more fire and brimstone and lightning and magical weapons and spells. I mean its gods fighting each other here. Now the ending. The storyline that goes off into makes me very excited. I hope he does follow up on that.

Soooooo much better than that crap movie they made
Revisado: 11-22-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely. Its got some heavy duty emotional stuff in there. It has a love story for someone looking for that. Its got action and adventure. Its just a fun book.
Any additional comments?
The movie they made of this book is a travesty. I will say this though, in the follow up books in the series when the focus changes to someone else's perspective. Well all I will say is I liked Davy's storyline much more. But.....I did enjoy the rest of the story and conclusions of it.

Very surprised....
Revisado: 11-22-14
If you could sum up Red Rising in three words, what would they be?
Futuristic Genetically Modified.
What other book might you compare Red Rising to and why?
It clearly is just a dystopia cookie cut out, BUT the action is so well written and the coniving and backstabbing and killing. Its just wild.
Which character – as performed by Tim Gerard Reynolds – was your favorite?
Darrow of course followed probably by Severo.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Well no. I have to warn readers here that the beginning first chapters are very slow and are just about a boy who loves a girl. Once that is over and Darrow agrees to be the hand of vengeance it just gets better and better from there.
Any additional comments?
If you don't like the start, stick with it. It gets better.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Would you listen to 14 again? Why?
Yes. It was interesting. I did find the build up to the action a bit slow, but it didn't take away much from my enjoyment.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. The beginning several chapters sort of bored me and I had to force myself to keep going, but I was rewarded with a really well written science fiction/horror story at the end.
Any additional comments?
Definitely pick it up if you like the idea of different dimensions and government cover ups.

Revisado: 11-22-14
What did you like best about Steelheart? What did you like least?
This caught my attention because it switched up the paradigm of hero's with super powers. I have read the follow up books and I want more information about the cause of the powers.
Any additional comments?
Its a quirky book. I liked it, but I'd like further explanation of the storyline. Not killing off the dictator super powers, but where the powers came from and why? And why is almost everyone evil who has them?
