Historia
Silent film actor Casimir Moreau had imagined that life as a vampire would be freewheeling and glamorous. Instead, he’s plunged into a restrictive society whose rules he runs afoul of at every turn. To “rehabilitate” him, the vampire council orders him mated to an incubus with impeccable breeding. As an inactive beaver shifter, construction engineer Rusty Johnson has fought - and overcome - bias and disrespect his entire life. Rusty can’t face returning to his clan, and Cas needs somebody on his arm to keep the council happy, so they agree to pretend to be married.

This was a wonderful listen and just what I wanted
Revisado: 12-08-24
I had listened to book one so I knew something of what was going on but this had its own twists and turns. I love both Cas and Rusty and enjoyed watching it all come together. This is about a much graphic talk as I like. I don't want something that is straining to come up with different ways to say "member" or "pound" lol but I don't want to always fade to black. The Narrator was also great. Mr. Boudreaux has a nice set of voices, accents and tones to make it easy to listen too. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Enjoyed this audio book... but I have questions!
Revisado: 12-02-24
I liked this book and enjoyed the ride, but it had lots of threads that would come and go without a satisfying resolution. Maybe that's the point? Of course some of this maybe that I just don't understand it all. I thought the narrator was great. And the story was very interesting. I love the "hard science" scifi!

A fun tropey listen
Revisado: 03-24-24
I have played and run this module so I was really interested in the audio book. The recording tried to make endless traps exciting, however, it wasn't always possible. The trope that seemed to be the weakest was where people had "died" but could do quite a bit of dialoging. This seemed strange when healing existed but the wounded character could talk but not be healed? I don't want to be too negative. I enjoyed it a lot and thought the narrator was excellent!

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Revisado: 10-16-23
I never knew what was coming from this book. It was so fun and the voices were real characters that I was hooked from the start. My prejudice is that I'm not fond of kid characters, but even they won me over by the end! This is so amazing, I can't help hoping there is more from this world!!!

Historia
The collapse of The Flow, the interstellar pathway between the planets of the Interdependency, has accelerated. Entire star systems - and billions of people - are becoming cut off from the rest of human civilization. This collapse was foretold through scientific prediction...and yet, even as the evidence is obvious and insurmountable, many still try to rationalize, delay and profit from, these final days of one of the greatest empires humanity has ever known.

Good, not as great at 1 and 2
Revisado: 05-21-20
There was a point in the book I was cursing Mr. Scalzi... I won't spoil it, but dang it, I was mad! But it mellowed into a satisfying ending. It was like a very strong whiskey that finishes smooth. This book has some great characters but not as much meat as the other two. Maybe it's because of the maturing of the Emperox in her position that made it seem less chaotic. I do want to know more about the flow, more about the habitats more about genetics and monopolies. But maybe that's good and for another book. Thanks for taking us on this ride, Mr. Scalzi, and sorry I was cursing your name! (PS Wil was great, but did his accent wobble around with that first lawyer? LOL He's great though and I never want to hear Keva Laggos voices by anyone else!)

The 14th century reflects two contradictory images: on the one hand, a glittering time of crusades and castles, cathedrals and chivalry, and the exquisitely decorated Books of Hours; and on the other, a time of ferocity and spiritual agony, a world of chaos and the plague.
