Why was there a part 2?
Revisado: 02-02-23
This book was very gripping and the concept was very provoking but there were times where it felt like the author would throw in a couple of sentences to transition to the next part of the story. It was very jarring. It happened a few times in part one and a whole bunch in part 2.
Speaking of part 2... when the book was approaching the end of part 1 I was getting very curious what was coming next. Pretty much all of our major plot points felt tied up. I was wondering what exciting new drama would unfold to continue the narrative. Let's just say I was disappointed.
I really wanted to love this book.

Almost Perfect
Revisado: 01-26-23
i enjoyed this book a lot. However the pacing did suffer a little bit. I feel like started to drag in the middle. I also struggled with the notion that two teenagers could outsmart all of the FBI but hey it's fiction sometimes you have to suspend your belief.
All that aside the characters in this book were all so well written. I loved to hate the villains. I cheered on our protagonists! It was wonderful!

Worth the hype
Revisado: 12-06-22
This might be the most beautifully written book I've even experienced, almost like poetry. The twist was something I definitely didn't expect, and it was done very well! The narrator did wonderful voice work and drew me into the story further.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Beautifully Written
Revisado: 11-11-22
In a way I saw it coming but then right at the end it surprised me. This story kept my captivated, questioning ever character. In the interview with the author he mentions reading Agatha Christie's works and the inspiration is apparent. This story makes me want to disect it and deeply look into every metaphor every foreshadowing. Very stunning book!

The ending was confusing
Revisado: 02-01-22
The ending was confusing and not in the good way. it was in the well this creates some plot holes kinda way. Who was the girl at the end? Spoilers ahead! But how was OUR charlie able to trick others? Was she a robot? If so how? Yeah overall not the most satisfying conclusion.

I really loved the ending but...
Revisado: 01-26-22
I really enjoyed this books but, I hate to say it, the way Charlie was writen was almosg insufferable. Constantly disregaurding friends. Leaving John hanging. Johns love for her felt very unreal. Charlie gave him nothing to love. So while the ending and the intrigue of what hppened was great the lead up to it just left me frusturated.

I'm glad I gave this a chance
Revisado: 01-24-22
I'm a big fan of the fanf games and when books were announced I was very hesitant to give them a try. It just felt do weird that they would be writing a book. Very cash grabby. I watch game theory and the way MatPat talks about these books he doesn't give them the best wrap. With the recent release of Security Breach ive become re-engroised with the fanf story and after rewatching play throughs and old theories i wanted more so I figured Id give the books a try. I'm really glad I did! This book was suspenseful and mysterious and since I already know a lot about the greater story ot was fun to listen to this with extra knowledge and somewhat break down what is going on and how it affects the greater story. I'm excited to listen to the next two.

Historia
In this deeply scary and intensely unnerving debut novel, Jake and a woman known only as "The Girlfriend" are on a drive to visit his parents at their secluded farm. But when Jake leaves "The Girlfriend" stranded at an abandoned high school, what follows is a twisted unraveling of the darkest unease, an exploration into psychological frailty, and an ending as suspenseful as The Usual Suspects and as haunting as Misery.
