Historia
This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Revisado: 05-11-17
will easily become one of my all time favorites. an amazingly real story, perfectly written and narrated.
what struck me after reading so much history on the air War was how the author humanized the luftwaffe. it was an amazing perspective to take in once you remember it's not fiction. beautifully narrated, I had a hard time shutting this one off

Historia
Seventy years ago, more than 6000 Allied ships carried more than a million soldiers across the English Channel to a 50-mile-wide strip of the Normandy coast in German-occupied France. It was the greatest sea-borne assault in human history. The code names given to the beaches where the ships landed the soldiers have become immortal: Gold, Juno, Sword, Utah, and especially Omaha, the scene of almost unimaginable human tragedy.

Historia
With its thunderous assault on the Mariana Islands in June 1944, the United States crossed the threshold of total war. In this tour de force of dramatic storytelling, distilled from extensive research in newly discovered primary sources, James D. Hornfischer brings to life the campaign that was the fulcrum of the drive to compel Tokyo to surrender—and that forever changed the art of modern war.

TONS of information
Revisado: 02-16-17
Would you listen to The Fleet at Flood Tide again? Why?
Yes. There is so much information in this book that listening to it again would be even further educational.
What about Pete Larkin’s performance did you like?
Overall I liked the narrator. smooth voice and very clear. However, at times he sounded like he was doing a straight up imitation of the penguin from Madagascar
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no way, it's really long. give yourself time

Historia
An instant hit in the UK, this is the true account of a German shepherd who was adopted by the Royal Air Force during World War II, joined in flight missions, and survived everything from crash-landings to parachute bailouts-ultimately saving the life of his owner and dearest friend. In the winter of 1939 in the cold snow of no-man's-land, two loners met and began an extraordinary journey that would turn them into lifelong friends.

What a great book
Revisado: 11-18-16
Would you listen to The Dog Who Could Fly again? Why?
Yes. The way the story was written and the way the narrator reads it. So well done and as perfect a combination of any audio book I've listened to to date.
Have you listened to any of Derek Perkins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no. But I sure will. He was excellent.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
yes, brings tears to your eyes at times (especially for anyone who has had a close relationship with a dog)
Any additional comments?
I'm a huge fan of WWII air war stories and history. I'm also a a lifelong dog lover, and owner of quite a few shepards. This book combines them both into an amazing story, is beautifully written and masterfully narrated.
