In book 12 in the series, Lacy takes over as director for the local Thanksgiving Pageant after the director they had appointed is bitten by a snake. The pageant seems to have met with bad luck from the beginning, but when the star is found dead in the trap-room, Abby becomes convinced the entire production is cursed.

Narration was disappointing
Revisado: 11-21-23
The narration really detracted from the story. It was both childlike and robotic. I'd recommend skipping this audio book.

Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.... The novel begins in Monte Carlo, where our heroine is swept off her feet by the dashing widower Maxim de Winter and his sudden proposal of marriage. Orphaned and working as a lady's maid, she can barely believe her luck. Haunting story, amazing narration
Revisado: 11-03-21
This book is a favorite of mine, so I wanted to try the audio version. The narrator was wonderful and kept me hooked on every word. The pacing, the emotion, and the mood were captured perfectly. The voices of each character were very well done. I highly recommend this audiobook to fans of Rebecca.

Historia
Nonny Frett understands the meanings of "rock" and "hard place" better than any woman ever born. She's got two mothers, "one deaf-blind and the other four baby steps from flat crazy". She's got two men: her husband, who's easing out the back door; and her best friend, who's laying siege to her heart in her front yard. She has a job that holds her in the city, and she's addicted to a little girl who's stuck deep in the country.

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 04-20-21
The narration was really good, but the added music seemed mostly unwelcome and out of place.
The characters, circumstances, and setting seem a bit much to believe. However, the story is very well done. I really enjoyed this book.

Historia
It's the end of the summer and prodigal daughter Maggie Crozat has returned home to her family's plantation-turned-bed-and-breakfast in Louisiana. The Crozats have an inn full of guests for the local food festival. But when the elderly couple keels over dead within minutes of each other - one from very unnatural causes - Maggie and her family suddenly become suspects in a murder.

Unpleasant main character
Revisado: 12-12-20
This book treats readers to the nasty and negative inner thoughts the main character. She seems overly annoyed by the guests of her family's bed and breakfast, with the comments about elderly and overweight guests being the most obnoxious. None of it even comes off as an attempt to be funny, just mean-spirited. I have no interest in finishing this book.

Historia
Julia Snowden returned to her hometown to rescue her family's struggling clambake business - not to solve crimes. But that was before a catered wedding on picturesque Morrow Island turned into a reception for murder. When the best man's corpse is found hanging from the grand staircase in the Snowden family mansion, Julia must put the chowder pot on the back burner and join the search for the killer. And with suspicion falling on her old crush, Chris Durand, the recipe for saving her business and salvaging her love life might be one and the same…

Overly dramatic narration
Revisado: 10-14-19
I liked the mystery, but the over-the-top narration was a distraction. I can't imagine the author envisioned her heroine sounding quite that unstable. I had hoped to find a new series for Audible, but I think I'll switch to Kindle for this one.

Historia
After mystery author Diane Christie loses her husband to suicide, she and her son move to the small coastal town of Fog Harbor, Massachusetts. Her daughter is attending college nearby, and Diane hopes that her family can now begin to heal. But rebuilding their lives after the tragedy isn't so simple. Diane's depressed college-age daughter, Alexa, still avoids her, critical of everything Diane does, and even her generally amiable teenage son, Josh, has started acting out.

Great book until the last couple of chapters
Revisado: 10-09-17
I really enjoyed this book. The character development, the building suspense, the big reveal - great story. But the resolution left me shaking my head. It ruined the book for me.
