This is a quaint Fandorin story. in the sequence of the books, it probably should go right before The Black City.
Alexander Filippenco is a narrator who acts a lot, and definitely brings his own robust flavor to the story, and people usually love it or not.
The book is an enjoyable listen, especially if you, like me, just cannot have enough of Erast Fandorin in your life.

I am in love with Akunin 's writing and with the main characters of the series. This is the second book of the beloved Fandorin series, and now, in 2024 this war mystery hits a bit too close, but the story is fun and full of character. I wish Audible had the third book, Leviathan, available, but allas...

One hour of the book left for me, and the elections are in 2 days. I know how the book will end, and that my heart will be broken. Today, this book is #1 on Amazon, and may be it will make a difference. Maybe we learn. I hope so.
Alexei, from the bottom of Maslow pyramid, called us to do something while we have the freedom and life to do so. And also to hope, and to enjoy simple joys of life.
This is a great book, I will be reading it with my kids.

confusing story that's hard to hear...

the sound effects and the acting make it tremendously hard to follow. there are lots of characters with similar voices, the ambiance effects are too loud. overall, rather a frustrating experience.

A fun and cute story. loved the dolphins.

I enjoyed the story a lot. it is entertaining and mostly fast paced, the MC is likeable. because I'm a person of a very refined taste, I loved dolphins the most though! WW is a great narrator. overall, no regrets.

It is mind blowing that this book is a sibling of expeditionary force. the story reads very juvenile, not just the characters. a very limited and predictable world creation, boring characters, not even a bit of humor. I do not know why I'm bothering to finish the story, really. I am not buying the next book in series.

I wish Agatha and the troops remained true to themselves. It is inevitable that the new author should bring a new voice, and it is hard on us, the fans of the series. I shall give the next book a chance to come back to the essence of the characters we love so much, though. I think there is still hope.
