Usually I enjoy biographical stories about darker subcultures... I just couldn't get into this. I understand Thompson is a literary icon, but I felt the narrative was campy and trying too hard... trying to impress or get reaction. I dont know, maybe its just not aging well.

This book had some decent advice for creatives but I dont think 100% of the structure is applicable to all creatives in the order he states. Also, there were about a dozen mic pops that scared the hell out of me on my car ride. Please get a pop screen.

This story takes place between Alien and Aliens. It explains what happens to the colonists and is a good tie in to the movies. Story was good. Performance was great. Just a few minor issues with the writing. Overall entertaining.

Great Resource

Changed my view on being a caretaker, spouse, and fellow Child of God for my Wife. This book is highly beneficial for Christian caretakers, any Christians in a marriage, or single Christians. My Wife recommended it to me as she is reading the printed book. Since I never seem to finish self help genre printed books, the audible version is perfect. Also keeps me interested enough so I don't get involved with the idiot drivers on my daily 95 commute. Tops!

Odd cut off ending to this book. I understand there are others in the series but still.. Great narration. I also found it odd, the future-speak of abbreviating minutes and seconds to "mins" and "secs", but got used to it. Those are used a lot. Just seemed out of place since all other speech was normal, and I wasnt sure what the hell was going on the first time I heard "secs (sex)".

Story and performance was great.
Only complaint is technical... while listening to this on my commute, I found myself turning the volume up and down at points. Most of the story is narrated wonderfully at a talk level of speaking. During some heated moments, the narrator rightfully raises his voice a bit. The levels of the mastering of the audio seem off since when this happens it seems too loud compared to where I normally need the volume for the majority of the story. Kind of like when a commercial comes on tv and the volume seems 200% of what it was when the normal show was on.
