I am beginning to think Jodi Taylor is addictive.

These two characters have cast a spell over long time Taylor readers. This backstory just adds that little something extra.

I am already trying to connect the dots in at least one casually dropped hint. Mickeljohn? Mikey? Tea Pot?

This book is yet another than I will listen to repeatedly, more for the fun of it than in trying to gather all the hints...

No you don't have to have read any of the earlier books. Yes there is quite a tale to be told here.

Worth the time. Enjoy!

I've been a fan of this series since the beginning but this addition has a slightly different feel to it. It feels like the author has hit his stride.

This is not 'just' a murder mystery. The focus is on the efforts to stop an assassination attempt which could (did) start WWI.

While the core relationships still hold firm, we get the opportunity to see Lady Hardcastle and Flo do what they do best.

The writing is crisp and the twists and turns kept me hanging in there.

Excellent addition to a great series!

The concept for not only this book, but the series, is quite interesting. This anthology is written by folks who have more than a passing acquaintance with the ACD material and while their interpretations are not always 'spot on' they come pretty close.

I've enjoyed the work quite a bit - using the same reader was a great idea as it adds consistency.

If you like Holmes and Watson and are looking for something a bit different, this is worth a listen.

My only encounter with Wind In The Willows was the Disney version centering on Toad, and from what I've experienced, that wasn't too close to the original work.

This production is well produced and well performed and the result was a lovely experience. Well worth taking the time to listen to.

I've been a Dresden fan since the beginning. I actually started out with the print version and then moved to the audiobooks.

One constant about Harry is that his stories are exhausting. The roller coaster ride was usually worth it because the plot would move forward, the characters would evolve, and the stories were usually captivating and worth the effort. The writing was sharp, the humor could be quite crisp, and the overall experience was fun. Exhausting but fun.

All that being said, I finally gave up somewhere in the middle of whatever war we were in where all sorts of folks didn't survive. Some expected, some not. The trigger for me to put it aside and walk away was pretty simple: I no longer cared. There was nothing of any substance to make me feel like there was a possibility of success in any endeavor that Harry and Company were undergoing. After that, it didn't matter who did what, who didn't survive, who did, or even what Harry was up to.

I have no idea what caused the author to abruptly aim toward oblivion, but I am disappointed. And I'm still waiting for book 2 of Cinder Spires.

I hadn't discovered this side series from the Lady Hardcastle series until now. I'm glad I found it!

A different change of pace with familiar characters. The readers are quite good. The storyline is up to par with the Lady Hardcastle series.

If you are looking for a carbon copy of the Hardcastle series, you won't find it here. If you are looking for a well-constructed story with excellent narration, you will find it here.

It is a nice cross-over with hints of things that occurred between the timelines of each series.

I've been a Cussler fan for decades and an Oregon Files fan for years. There is something about the genre and the way Cussler & Co develop their stories that is far better than most authors I've tried.

As the Enterprise in Star Trek was a huge part of the story and a character of its own, the Oregon is also a huge part of the stories and is also a character along with Juan and the rest of the crew. There is something comforting and safe and yet edgy and dangerous about the Oregon.

This book is a well conceived, well researched and well written story that finally pits Juan against a villain who is just as cunning and just as cagy, but far more dangerous. The stakes are high, the players at the top of their game and the reader is along for a wild ride.

You don't have to have read the series in order or even prior to this book. I definitely recommend giving it a try - Scott Brick does his usual fabulous job as narrator - and then diving back into the canon to learn more.

That's the best thing about Clive Cussler; there is always more to learn.

I've been a fan for almost 60 years. I literally did not realize how much of Ms. Andrews' work I had seen or heard. The people she talks about, the projects, the places most, if not all, were a part of my life in some way or other.

There is something comforting about listening to her story. I'd read her last memoir. Having come through a rough storm, with all the stress attached, being able to curl up to her telling me her story has been a comfort.

Many times those of us on the other side of the footlights really have no idea what goes on behind them. We hear stories, but the truth often is obscured or lost. To learn about Blake Edwards, the children, the family, the projects has allowed me to learn a lot, fill in some spots and learn more about people I've watched or listened to for most of my life. It is, indeed, a blessing.

I recommend this book for many reasons, the least of which is the interesting story the reader shares.

For those who have experience with Star Trek Discovery, this book will be a bit grating. The characterization is off a bit. This is to be expected as it was written before the series got its feet under it. Once the performers began developing their characters and more backstory was in place it made books like this one a bit...out of place.

The story is good, the situation interesting and the overall experience compelling. As an entry into STDisco books, it is a good start, but readers please keep in mind that as the series and characters evolve, things change.

In the book, you will encounter Michael Burnham referring to her brother as "Mr. Spock". Nope. Never. As the series evolved Burnham always referred to Spock either as "Brother" or by his rank and occasionally as Spock.

The "Mr." is the writer's stumble, usually because that is the way the character was encountered.

Enjoy the ride - there are some interesting puzzles in addition to the base story.

The first book in the series was interesting enough to make me give this one a try.

The narrator drives me crazy - There is so much sing song mixed with bluster that I found myself more annoyed than enthralled.

The story is a slightly different matter. I tried - really tried - to ignore the narrator and get into the plot, but between the childishness of the heroine and the bluster of the out lying characters by the time I finally got the the last chapter I no longer cared.

The work reminds me of a first book attempt. The plot is obvious, the characterizations canned. Even I could figure out some of the <cough> series plot points from the first entry into the story. And I wasn't paying that much attention.

I have to say it feels very much like this was the first book written and then the first book in the series was written to give backstory.

Would I recommend this book? No

Would I continue with the series? Not at this time. Maybe if I get desperate.
