Historia
Joe Mulhall knows what it’s like to stare fascism in the face. For a decade, often undercover at significant personal risk, he has investigated hate groups. He infiltrated a US white supremacist militia, set up a fake Ku Klux Klan branch, has been on countless street marches with violent far-right groups across Europe and got inside some of the most important ‘alt-right’ meetings ever held. Brazil, India and the US are still in thrall to authoritarian populism, and far-right views have become steadily normalised in mainstream politics.

A Hidden Gem
Revisado: 11-30-22
This book is something of a hidden gem and could definitely use some more love. Well worth checking out. Drums in The Distance is part spy thriller and part history text / memoir. The author is uniquely qualified to speak about the far right and how to fight them. I devoured this book in one sitting.

Historia
The internet has transformed the ways we think and act, and by consequence, our politics. The most impactful recent political movements on the far left and right started with massive online collectives of teenagers. Strangely, both movements began on the same website: an anime imageboard called 4chan.org. It Came from Something Awful is the fascinating and bizarre story of 4chan and its profound effect on youth counterculture.

I Lived Through This
Revisado: 10-09-22
This book is one of the best histories of the internet I’ve ever read. The best part for me is that he explains why things are the way they are now. Dale Beran also doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the ways the Left played into the hands of the far right and what the consequences were.
