An interesting (yet confusing) beginning
Revisado: 07-29-24
I’ve been trying to read SW Legends for a while now, so it was nice to mark this one off my list. Just like the title of this review, the book is kinda confusing if you don’t immediately know what’s going on from the start. It feels like this book was supposed to be somewhat of a pilot episode to the Rouge Squadron series. There’s not much of an overall plot, it’s just introducing characters and having them fight in battles and setting up events later to come. Is it a bad book? No. But it can be a confusing one. Hopefully the rest of the series will be better. And lastly, Marc Thompson was, of course, a masterpiece throughout.

Nintendo has continually set the standard for video game innovation in America, starting in 1981 with a plucky hero who jumped over barrels to save a girl from an ape. The saga of Mario, the portly plumber who became the most successful franchise in the history of gaming, has plot twists worthy of a video game. Jeff Ryan shares the story of how this quintessentially Japanese company found success in the American market.

Mama-Mia!!!
Revisado: 07-05-24
I’m a person who is a sucker for non-fiction told in a humorous fashion, so I obviously loved this book. I have listened to it probably ten times in my relatively short life time. The writing is as if Jeff Ryan is sitting beside you telling you all this and not as if it was pre-written. I 100% think a sequel/second-edition should be written to cover all the other gaming marvels that have been released since then like Mario Odyssey or the Switch, and also the many failures like the Wii-U or the overpriced 3DS. I also think a sequel about the history of Pokémon or Zelda could do well. Ray Porter is a perfect narrator for this book as well. And yes, some of the information talked about in this book has been since disproven or completely falsified, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth the listen. To conclude, Jeff, I love your book and if you ever want a sequel, call me.

Huge payoff! Like the Nihil I stop/started this book multiple times because I couldn’t keep with all of the changing characters. Glad I finished it. It was worth the trouble. Now I can’t wait to continue the series.

“Hello there!”
Revisado: 02-29-24
Last year (2023) I started a personal quest to read every canon Star Wars book. But recently I decided that the canon storyline was too frustrating to enjoy ( I’m looking at you sequel trilogy) so I chose to switch to Legends instead. I started off with this one and I can without a doubt say this is probably the best of all SW books. The author is able to take a movie that not too many people love and turn it into a 13hr long epic of betrayal and heartbreak. I’ve heard some fans say that Anikan’s whole “becoming a Sith thing” was too sudden and not drawn out enough. This book takes that and throws it out the window. Most of the story is diving deep into Anikan and how he slowly loses trust in the Jedi, Obi-Wan, and even Padme. It gives him a reason to be upset, and the many scenes where Palpatine and Anikan talk like friends show how he really thought this guy was his ally and somebody who wasn’t some wacko minded Sith Lord. In conclusion, I give this book my Star Wars rating of: 5 out of 5, as cool as Hoth.

Revisado: 10-01-23
Now before I say anything I gotta say, J and Ben I am totally not saying this podcast is bad in any way, I actually enjoyed it, I just thought it would be different. I thought you guys were gonna read the Harry Potter books to the audience (like an audiobook) and then afterwords discuss it. But instead it’s just you guys discussing the chapter, no reading whatsoever. So yeah, it’ll probably be a blast for some, but it’s just not my cup of tea. Love you guys on YouTube though👍👍👍

I love the rivals books! (Except for this one🤨)
Revisado: 06-13-23
I have a few problems with this book. The first two chapters were okay but the last two seemed inappropriate for children. Also, the narrator isn’t as good as the previous one. She reads the book as if she’s just reading text off a page, but the previous one read it like he was sitting down and telling you the story which was really good. So yeah, I would easily pass this one.

Revisado: 05-22-23
I found this book pretty good! And yes, this is a scary book for kids, just wanna clarify that. But let me tell you, it took me a couple of tries to fully get through the second story. I think it’s because I imagined it happening to me so that added to the spookiness. The other stories are pretty good too and are great if you love some classic Goosebumps action. Fun Fact: Did you know R.L. Stine started off as a comedy writer?

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Revisado: 05-08-23
I absolutely looove this series! The witty and fun dialogue and the crazy historical rivalries make it a classic in my book. I’ve seen angry reviews about the language and I have to disagree. For one, there are absolutely ZERO swear words, if there were then it wouldn’t be rated 8+. And yes, I know they take God’s name in vain every now and then, but as a Catholic, I faced it a long time ago that I’d here phrases like that in children’s media for the rest of my life. And if your still angry then maybe pray about it. So yeah, try the book out, I doubt you’ll dislike it.
P.S Me and my brother still shout out “Jersey!” every now and then because it is just so gosh dang funny 😆

I absolutely love this audiobook and have listened to it probably seven times. The quality is amazing and the cast are incredible, it’s like they took a classic tale and breathed new life into it. Now, I have heard from the other reviewers it isn’t the full book, but I don’t mind. If you love classics and high quality entertainment then you should listen to it.
