Historia
One June day when Mia Jacob can no longer see a way to survive, the power of words saves her. The Scarlet Letter was written almost two hundred years earlier, but it seems to tell the story of Mia’s mother, Ivy, and their life inside the Community—an oppressive cult in western Massachusetts where contact with the outside world is forbidden. But how could this be? How could Nathaniel Hawthorne have so perfectly captured the pain and loss that Mia carries inside her?

One of Alice Hoffman’s best in my opinion.
Revisado: 09-19-23
I have read many of this great authors novels and am rarely disappointed. In fact I’d say it’s hard to choose a best but The Invisible Hour would definitely be in the running for that place. I also cannot leave this review without making a point of how well done the narration was. Jessie Mueller gave the perfect voice to this story.

Historia
For Michael Stirling, London's most infamous rake, after a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca's surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere 36 hours longer.

I have listened to each story and Francesca’s surpasses them all in my opinion. I loved her story. I am also quite thankful for the epilogue.

Historia
Property Of is the book that launched a major literary career. In it, New York Times best-selling author Alice Hoffman introduces a lonely outsider who wants desperately to belong. She deeply envies the tough, sultry girls who wear mascara and black leather and hang with the local gang known as the Orphans. As the unnamed narrator determinedly tries to become the property of the gang's brooding leader, McKay, she will discover what can and cannot be possessed.

Revisado: 08-14-22
I just wanted to write this review for anyone else who is an Alice Hoffman fan.
I thoroughly enjoy most Alice Hoffman novels and do you believe she’s a great writer.
This book however was a bit of a disappointment. I know before the first chapter was through that Buying it was a mistake. It was repetitive and the characters had little depth. The book dragged on and on and I was grateful when it was over.
I strongly encourage you to read a number of this writers novels. If you so choose to read or listen to this one just know you have been warned.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it funny and uplifting. I did have a bit of a problem with the narration. It was hard to follow who was speaking from time to time. All in all the book was entertaining and I'd recommend it to a friend.

I was happy when it was over
Revisado: 06-19-20
I am not really a fan of this book. The characters were not relatable. The story was far to unrealistic for my taste. The setting was nice and the author did a good job of describing things so you can easily picture it but not over describing so it drags on. I do think it was performed really well. All in all I have to say I wouldn't recommend this book to a friend. I was happy when it was over and a bit sad I spent the money on it.

A beautiful and Tragic story.
Revisado: 04-07-19
I would have to add this to my favorite book list. Not because it was a wonderful uplifting story by any means but because it was beautiful. This writer did an amazing job in giving each character depth. The story flows so well and will keep you from wanting to put it down. This book brings so much emotion. I cried, cussed, and laughed depending on where I was in the story. I guess that's what makes a great novel. I will recommend this book to everyone I know who would appreciate it.

This was a fun listen. I am fan of the writer as it seems all her books are happy and hold quite a bit of humor. Also I think most can relate to characters in some way. This is not my favorite book of hers but it's still a good one none the less.
