Historia
A groundbreaking masterpiece of early European modernism, originally published in 1910, The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge unspools the vivid reflections of the titular young poet and nobleman. From his Paris garret, Brigge records his encounters with the city and its people, muses on his family history, and lays bare an alternately exquisite and grotesque atmosphere of death. With a poet’s attention to language, Rainer Maria Rilke forges a dazzlingly visual coming-of-age narrative, kaleidoscopic in its approach to time and its portraits of Parisian life.

Victorious semblances which promote beauty
Revisado: 01-23-25
It was very interesting to see the struggles of a poet trying to fit his protagonist in his prose. Also almost impossible to distinguish the protagonist from the author.

Historia
Today both reality and entertainment crowd our fields of vision with brutal imagery. The pervasiveness of images of torture, horror, and war has all but demolished the 20th-century hope that such imagery might shock us into a less alienated state, or aid in the creation of a just social order. What to do now? When to look, when to turn away? Genre-busting author Maggie Nelson brilliantly navigates this contemporary predicament, with an eye to the question of whether or not focusing on representations of cruelty makes us cruel.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Revisado: 08-05-24
Through the authentic perception of this book! Little symbolic details, surrealist, metaphors, and a great depiction of impassioned action, not to mention, tackling the subject display in the time and place.

Historia
"18 juillet.

Historia
"Psychopathology of Everyday Life" is a book which passed through four editions in Germany and is considered the author's most popular work. With great ingenuity and penetration, the author throws much light on the complex problems of human behavior, and clearly demonstrates that the hitherto considered impassable gap between normal and abnormal mental states is more apparent than real. This translation is made of the fourth German edition.

Recording versus performance
Revisado: 03-06-24
This book is really worth reading in this format. The performance of the reader is quite good, and very clear. However, the quality of the recording is so bad. You can hear where the Edit is in and out mistakes. Ha ha. And also there’s clicking in the background and the whole audio is off. I got good insights though.

In 1920s America, a plague is spreading fast. From New Orleans to Chicago to New York, the "Jes Grew" epidemic makes people desperate to dance, overturning social norms in the process. Anyone is vulnerable and when they catch it, they'll bump and grind into a frenzy. Working to combat the Jes Grew infection are the puritanical Atonists, a group bent on cultivating a "Talking Android", an African American who will infiltrate the unruly black communities and help crush the outbreak.

The Spirit of the blues!
Revisado: 06-26-23
Awesome sauce! Seriously, you don’t have to take this seriously to get a whole lot out of it. It with a creative fabric through the history of musical dance in his country. Somuch parody and so much of Reed telling his truth.
