Historia
Sambo is a South Indian boy who lives with his father and mother, named Black Jumbo and Black Mumbo, respectively. While out walking, Sambo encounters four hungry tigers and surrenders his colorful new clothes, shoes, and umbrella so they will not eat him. The tigers are vain, and each thinks he is better dressed than the others. They chase each other around a tree until they are reduced to a pool of ghee (clarified butter). Sambo then recovers his clothes and collects the ghee, which his mother uses to make pancakes.

Horrible Childhood Memories
Revisado: 05-23-22
I am a 70 year old African American woman and this was my first grade reader. Imagine how humiliated I and the other black children were as the white children read this and laughed. The white teacher was amused as we bullied in class. Maybe the performer was not aware of the history of this story as she read. I can't fault her for my experience.

Historia
Have you ever wondered why we Christians do what we do for church every Sunday morning? Why do we "dress up" for church? Why does the pastor preach a sermon each week? Why do we have pews, steeples, choirs, and seminaries? This volume reveals the startling truth: most of what Christians do in present-day churches is not rooted in the New Testament, but in pagan culture and rituals developed long after the death of the apostles.

A look at how worship and community came to be
Revisado: 03-25-20
I loved it! The best explanation about how worship and community has evolved over the centuries. Starting with the first century church right up to the present the author provides a detailed account of the evolution of worship in the church. If you want to better understand the journey to where we are today. It is a must read.

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.
