The Right Conversation
Revisado: 02-18-24
This book was hard for me to read because I am living in the middle of its target audience. I earnestly yearn for my children to follow Christ as I do and intensely want to “get it right” in how I raise them to give them all the tools they need for life while loving them unconditionally as they discover faith in God for themselves. While I did not agree with every perspective or bit of advice in the book, I believe this book is the “right” conversation. I appreciated the scholarly statistical approach to the information interspersed with practical advice and creative ideas. I have already modified my approach to my teenagers based on reading this book, and since doing so, have had some phenomenal life-shaping conversations with them. I am grateful for this book and recommend it as valuable to parents of teens, pastors, and youth pastors particularly.

Adventure Story
Revisado: 12-01-22
Though it's often difficult to read or listen to biographies, this one is an exception. The action is non-stop. I didn't want to miss a single moment of it.
I would recommend this book to anyone aged twelve or older. If you are looking for a good book, packed with adventure, you won't be disappointed.
The narrator was also expressive and made it easy to engage with the story.

Historia
In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

Erik Weihenmayer is the first and only blind person to summit Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. Descending carefully, he and his team picked their way across deep crevasses and through the deadly Khumbu Icefall; when the mountain was finally behind him, Erik knew he was going to live. His expedition leader slapped him on the back and said something that would affect the course of Erik’s life: “Don’t make Everest the greatest thing you ever do.” No Barriers is Erik’s response to that challenge.

Historia
This provocative audiobook starts with an unlikely interview in which America’s foremost skeptic builds a seemingly persuasive case against the miraculous. But then Strobel travels the country to quiz scholars to see whether they can offer solid answers to atheist objections. Along the way, he encounters astounding accounts of healings and other phenomena that simply cannot be explained away by naturalistic causes. The audiobook features the results of exclusive new scientific polling that shows miracle accounts are much more common than people think.

Historia
In this definitive biography, renowned Bible scholar, Anglican bishop, and best-selling author N. T. Wright offers a radical look at the apostle Paul, illuminating the humanity and remarkable achievements of this intellectual who invented Christian theology - transforming a faith and changing the world. For centuries, Paul, the apostle who "saw the light on the Road to Damascus" and made a miraculous conversion from zealous Pharisee persecutor to devoted follower of Christ, has been one of the church's most widely cited saints.

Deeply Encouraging to Discover Paul as a Man!
Revisado: 10-12-21
Often considered a "Lion of the Faith" Paul here is portrayed as a very real human being. As N. T. Wright traces Paul's career across the years, we discover a flawed but sincere man utterly committed to living out his faith with every fiber of his being 'til his final breath. Along the way, we discover more about Paul, more about the identity of the church, and more about ourselves. In the end we are left with a clearer understanding of Paul the man and Paul the Apostle and we have discovered anew the relevancy of the Gospel in our own time. Its a story worth knowing and worth sharing.

Excellent Summary of the Trajectory of the Church
Revisado: 08-27-21
I just finished this excellent course. It took me a while to work my way through it, but it is one of the most enlightening things I have ever studied. It helped me to understand the trajectory of the church from Christ through post modernity in a way nothing else has. Especially if you approach it not to agree or disagree, but simply to learn, it will be an immense help in understanding why and where and how Christianity is today. Highly recommended!

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.
