Less than advertised
Revisado: 01-19-22
All the criticism of prior reviewers are valid here. The author makes a big deal of his bona fides (CIA agent) yet never mentions that Steve Hodel was both a police officer and homicide detective for the LAPD. Don't you think this would have relevant to this podcast as it would have given him access to both evidence and contacts with investigators of the case (verbal evidence between colleagues rather than in the written report). Very suspicious that he conviently omits this yet he trusts the theory of a newspaper editor; columists being known for running with less than the full deck of facts. In any case, having served on a grand jury I know that if either of the two suspects would have been presented to a grand jury they probably would have been indicted (only need 14/23 for true bill and case to proceed to trial). The theory being let the case be adjudicated and let the jury decide on guilt. I'm certain that both suspects would have been found not guilty (or better not proven).
Finally listen to the podcast then read the book by Steve Hodel as I did.
PS. He states that the Ironmaiden was an 19th century torture instrument when it was a medieval torture instrument;
it was discovered in the 19th century. If he can't get this fact correct what other "facts" he did get wrong?

Historia
Britain was the first country to ever suffer a ballistic missile attack from beyond its borders. This book tells the story of that attack. During 1942 and 1943, confusing rumours circulated about the German development of a 'giant rocket'. Most experts, including Winston Churchill's own scientific adviser Lord Cherwell, declared that such a weapon was impossible. It was only after the patient sifting of European intelligence that the most influential doubters were convinced such a weapon was being built. Then on 8 September 1944, the first V-2 landed in Chiswick. Between then and the final rocket impact on 27 March 1945, more than a thousand landed on British soil, killing nearly three thousand people and seriously injuring more than six thousand.

Does not cover the subject in enough detail
Revisado: 12-06-21
Unfortunately sometimes it happens that there is only one available book on an interesting subject, but that doesn't suficciently cover the topic. This is the case with Hitler's Rocket by Norman Longmate. Only a somewhat cursory review of the biographies of von Braun and Dornberger are covered here. Their efforts towards building a rocket (either to hit the moon or London [LOL]) are not covered in enough detail during the 1920s and 1930s. In addition, the author seems to go on forever about the British cabinets' discussion of whether the Germans were actually building a rocket (prior to the first launching in Sept of 1944). This would not be a problem if the author had spent more time in writing on the development of the bomb itself.
If you're interested in this topic, there's nothing else available in spoken word format. I would
suggest getting a copy of The Rocket and the Reich by Michael J. Neufeld as alternative.

Historia
From his heyday to the present moment, Al Capone - Public Enemy Number One - has gripped popular imagination. Rising from humble Brooklyn roots, Capone went on to become the most infamous gangster in American history. At the height of Prohibition, his multimillion-dollar Chicago bootlegging, prostitution, and gambling operation dominated the organized-crime scene.

Not the Capone story you want to read
Revisado: 08-26-19
If you're looking for how Al Capone became the notorious gangstar we all know
don't look here. The majority of this book covers his social and family life
in at times trivial detail but leaves out the major details of his criminal
endeavors. We learn he loved his family, he had garish taste in clothing and
jerelry and his wife didn't get along with his side of the family. If you're
into this, then get this book, otherwise save your credit. The author based
her book primarily it seems on interviews with the grandchildren of Capone and
seems to have based her narrative on this whether they were true or just family
gossip (and by the way refutes the research of other biographers of Capone based
on this family hearsay!!). And the narrative tells the story in a cloying voice. Totally dissatified.
