Historia
At twenty-six years old, life looked a certain way for Nikki Vargas. She’d settled in New York City ready to join the ranks of the Carrie Bradshaws of the world, had landed in a promising advertising career, and was newly engaged to her college sweetheart. But between corporate happy hours and wedding dress fittings, she couldn’t shake a deep underlying sense of imposter syndrome, a voice telling her that she was rocketing towards a future that didn’t look like her. And so, she bought a plane ticket: first to Cartagena. Then to Panama. Then to Iguazú.

A vulnerable narrative (if not terribly exciting)
Revisado: 02-18-24
The author did a great job of telling her story and focused on the personal insights gained through travel. If you are looking for a heartfelt travelogue from the millennial perspective, you’ll enjoy the listen. That said, I would have appreciated more compelling travel stories ; the selected anecdotes, while meaningful to the writer, were a bit dull.

Historia
Returning to practice after a suspension for stealing opioids, a young doctor takes the only job he can find: a post as a physician at the struggling St. Luke's Hospital in east London. Amid the maelstrom of sick patients, overworked staff and underfunded wards, a more insidious secret soon declares itself: too many patients are dying. And a murderer may be lurking in plain sight.

Gripping story and great narration!

I didn’t expect to like this book so much, but the intriguing narrator and slow-build storyline hooked me. The performance was superb also. A thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Good Basic Fantasy, Great Leads
Revisado: 07-27-22
This was a decent story, well written overall (though I have beef with some of the plot points). The bi romance was refreshing for this genre and clearly written by a woman (thank god). I loved both of the main female characters and found the world building compelling.
My main issue with narration was simply the inconsistent volume, which was probably an equipment setup issue and no fault of Summers. The audio quality is not ideal for busy listeners, but fine if you’re in the car and can adjust sound as needed.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

What we all need to hear

Untamed is a treasure; I’m so glad I bought this book during such a difficult year. Doyle’s courage and insightful narrative produces profound inspiration. I’ve purchased three copies for women I love and will keep a fourth on my shelf for the next person who needs it.
