Historia
Tabitha and Wolf are hoping to spend a quiet Christmas at Glanwyddan Hall, the Pembroke estate in Wales. However, before they even leave London, they receive unsettling news of disturbing pranks happening on the estate. Is this just some local youthful mischief, or is something more sinister afoot? Moreover, why is the dowager countess so determined that they not cancel their visit?

Too Much Dowager
Revisado: 02-20-25
I really enjoy the Tabitha and Wolf mysteries but that is because of Tabitha and Wolf. This book focused mainly on the Dowager Countess and her efforts to investigate on her own. As I find her character annoying, I was irritated by how much of the narrative she took up and did not enjoy this book as much as the previous entries.

Historia
Hours later, the man’s cold body lies in the city mortuary, alongside the woman he couldn’t save. And his sister, unconventional nurse Gemma Tate, tracks down troubled police inspector Sebastian Bell to unravel the truth. Sebastian has enough pressure to solve the murder of an aristocratic heiress without Gemma meddling in his case. But the cryptic sentences she brings him from her brother’s notebook could be a crucial lead. If only they knew what “milky way” meant.

Interesting Story, Would Prefer Other Narrator
Revisado: 05-25-24
I found the story and characters to be quite engrossing but unfortunately, the narrator was not to my liking. I found her cadence and intonation to be quite similar for the two main characters and I found her tone to often be quite sharp which was irritating. This is entirely a personal preference though and other people might like the narration but for me, I sadly will be skipping the next book in the series.

Historia
Frances Price - tart widow, possessive mother, and Upper East Side force of nature - is in dire straits, beset by scandal and impending bankruptcy. Her adult son Malcolm is no help, mired in a permanent state of arrested development. And then there’s the Price’s aging cat, Small Frank, who Frances believes houses the spirit of her late husband, an infamously immoral litigator and world-class cad whose gruesome tabloid death rendered Frances and Malcolm social outcasts. Putting penury and pariahdom behind them, the family decides to cut their losses and head for the exit.

Meh
Revisado: 02-10-22
Commedy of Manners and useless rich people aren't really my thing (yes, I know it's societal critique). Found all characters relatively blah except for the cat. Found the latter part of the book slightly more enjoyable when it becomes more absurd; the seance with Small Frank was definitely the highlight. Is very well written but I definitely preferred deWitt's other works.
