Historia
The long night is upon them. After five years of hard work, dedication, and too many sacrifices, Lara thought she had made progress in bringing what remained of humanity together in her small part of the world. She also thought they had seen the last of the ghouls as a major threat. She was wrong on both counts. An unnatural alliance between two enemies, forged in secrecy, has finally been revealed. With Keo away on a mission, the real threat is at the gates, leaving Lara, Gaby, and a city full of civilians unprepared for a long and relentless night of fighting.

It's LARA not LAURA
Revisado: 04-22-19
The entire audiobook the Narrator Lauren pronounced Laras name - as Laura. It's always been Lara.
No check on that?
Why switch up the Narrator for this book? Ryan does such a good job.
You switched back to him in Book 6. Is it because it was a near all female storyline with Gabby and Lara?
So confusing on listeners when this happens, and real bad on the pronunciation name of a lead Protagonist..

Waste of time. Storyline needs to end!
Revisado: 05-08-18
13 Hours of listening to basically: I snickered, I chortled, I snorted or he did the same. A lot of slapstick back and forth zings between Bree, Nathan, Bucky and whoever she came into contact with.
The author has made Bree have to be in defensive mode to any extent she comes in contact with and not a likeable character.
This storyline of going to Europe didn’t go anywhere up until the last few minutes of the book due to the over emphasizing on the character arguments and Bree being selfishly out into defensive mode thru the book. We know her and Bucky detest one another, but really all these playground arguments? I thought Bree was better than that.
The Narrator has always done such an awesome job with the characters I just feel bad if she is under contract for an 8th book for the SOS from this book.

Historia
Magic is seeping out of the world, leaving the witches who've relied on it for countless centuries increasingly hopeless. While some see an inevitable end of their era, others are courting madness - willing to sacrifice former allies, friends, and family to retain the power they covet. While the other witches watch their reality unravel, young Alice Marin is using magic's waning days to delve into the mystery of numerous disappearances in the occult circles of New Orleans.

Generational Family of New Orleans Witches!
Revisado: 01-25-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it was a very well written book that I liked so I know my friends would like as such.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The King of Bones and Ashes?
I think, several parts in the ending - but, I don't want to give that away.
What does Sophie Amoss bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is a thoughtful narrator. And, I am glad she was chosen to narrate this book. Narrators need to have a way to make the characters blend, so you as the reader believe or get lost in the book - and I really did.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Things are not always as they seem to be, those bewitching ways....
Any additional comments?
This is going to be another great series written by J.D. Horn!

There are places in the world where darkness rules, where it's unwise to walk. Sunshine knew that. But there hadn't been any trouble out at the lake for years, and she needed a place to be alone for a while. Unfortunately, she wasn't alone. She never heard them coming. Of course you don't, when they're vampires.

Great storyline, the narration just didn't work.
Revisado: 06-21-17
Would you try another book from Robin McKinley and/or Laural Merlington?
Perhaps depending on the book and what Narrator they used.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Has to be Sunshine + Constantine they both made the book.
How could the performance have been better?
Not using the Narrator for Sunshine - the Narrator's voice was to "aged" for Sunshine's "age" in the storyline - it just didn't work for me. I listen to Audible books daily: commute to work, at work, etc..and Sunshine was unavoidable as any other type of read for me.
Was Sunshine worth the listening time?
NO! Read it on Kindle.

Historia
Snoe Gainey has spent her life trying to carve out her own identity in a post-apocalyptic world where her birth mother and father are two of the most infamous - if not notorious - individuals of the time. Raised by her adoptive mothers, she has done all she can to find her way in an unforgiving world. The rise of a splinter faction that seeks to bring about a so-called New America, and led by an enemy from the past, has shattered everything that she knew and most everything that she thought she knew about herself.

Great story, new narrator doesnt work for Snoe or
Revisado: 10-23-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Snoe's War to be better than the print version?
Absolutely not the change in the narrator ruined it. The narrator simply does not fit the character line built up of Snoe. Actually made me feel like my ears were going to bleed or someone was scratching on chalkboard and was monotone at times.
I simply dont understand why the need to switch narrators in a series of books when the reader gets used to the narrator. Is it to save money? This narrator simply sounded like she out aged Snoe and was boring. She did not sound like what Snoe would be like as a the reader built her up. Snoe was an 18 yr old petite mighty yet shy strong willed person as the first narrator Laura Stahl brought forth.
What other book might you compare Snoe's War to and why?
I cant because I was distracted by the narration.
How could the performance have been better?
Dont change narrator's? That is a given. Laura Stahl did a fine job of defining Snoe this one not.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Great book series I always do and had they not changed narrators I would have. I had to do this in pieces cuz the performance to the book was irritating. Books should bring out emotions but they should be enjoyable especially if you like the series.
Any additional comments?
Already done big fail in switching narrators the last 2 books.

Great story, horrible narration!
Revisado: 08-18-15
Story was great..love to read Samantha Moon books and this side book was good. Looking forward to Book 2 and more tales of the past per se.
The one thing I could not handle was the narration. Why the switch from the awesome narration of Dina Pearlman who narrated Books 1-10 to this narrator Kathy Vogel?
Sorry, but I just could not get past the monotone in her voice and the inability ro capture the other characters in this book. At times I felt like I was being read the book by a really bad computer voice struggling with words.
At least Dina Pearlman knew how to define Samantha Moon in narration and could do that with other characters included in a book and bring them realistically to life to the listener.
I listen to Audible books daily and will have to pass up any in the future I might like narrated by Ms Vogel.
Mr. Rain if you are reading this review please please go back to Dina Pearlman for any Samantha Moon books as that is how we know her as an Audible listener.

He's in a coma now, and Lizzy is being forced to make a decision she might not be able to live with. But a string of deaths has forced her to get back to work. While they appear to be unrelated accidents at first glance, a closer look shows they all have something in common.

Author giveths & takeths....has failed Lizzie.
Revisado: 04-23-15
I have enjoyed books 1-4 but found this one to be deplorable to Lizzie.
The entire series Ms. Ragan has had Jared help rebuild Lizzie's heart, soul..everything and then Ms. Ragan decides to take away?
For me this was a ignorant move for character writing.
I did not enjoy what has happened in this book. Quoting Lizzie "nobody alive knows me". I think a lot of the readers of the series thought they did based on the reviews throughout the series until this book. Apparently Ms. Ragan did not.
One plus is I always enjoy Katie Rudd's narration of Audible books and she had done an awesome job for this series.
I wish book 6 well as I won't be reading it or recommending.
