Historia
"'Boy, do I have a lot to learn!'" Anyone who's ever picked up a musical instrument of any kind - from the first caveman banging rocks to that little kid at the guitar shop - has thought that. I know I did. I'd been trying for years to break in to the music scene, to show everyone my chops, to make my mark. And I was good. But I wasn't great. I knew that there was something wrong. Then the teacher showed up...."

interesting music philosophy
Revisado: 10-15-22
Victor Wooten gives us his theory on music (not to be confused with music theory) wrapped up in a fictional story to demonstrate each of his main principles. at times I found myself wide eyed in amazement and other times my eyes were squinting with a doubtful confusion from what I consider to be over dramatic philosophies.
I enjoyed Vic sharing his theories in the way he saw fit and will definitely be listening to his recently released book.
The reason I didn't give it a 5 star review is because I thought the voice acting could have been done a little better because at times I found the dialog to be a little cheesy which also tied into what I felt was over dramatic ways to demonstrate his philosophy. Please don't bite my head off for my opinion.
Overall I enjoyed the book and it has made great conversations with my musician friends!

Historia
Audie Murphy was a desperately poor eighteen-year-old orphan when he joined the Army, nineteen when he first saw a buddy die from an enemy bullet and an enemy die from one of his own. By VE day, he had killed at least 240 Germans, had single-handedly destroyed a German tank in one battle and held off six tanks in another, and had become the most decorated soldier in American history, winning every medal his country offered, including the Congressional Medal of Honor.

a cheesy let down
Revisado: 02-20-20
what I thought would be a war memoir turned out like a cheesy 50s sitcom. The narrators voice overs didn't help the cheesy feel either. The way Murphy wrote this he left me with a lot of questions.

War as I Knew It is the personal and candid account of General George S. Patton, Jr.'s celebrated, relentless crusade across Europe during World War II. First published in 1947, this absorbing narrative draws on Patton's vivid memories of battle and his detailed diaries, from the moment the Third Army exploded onto the Brittany Peninsula to the final Allied casualty report. The result is not only a grueling, human account of daily combat but also a valuable chronicle of the strategies and fiery personality of a brilliant warrior.

Disappointed in this book
Revisado: 01-30-20
The vast majority of this book seemed to be written like a bland "after action" debrief, which makes sense coming from a general. A debrief while informative with historical facts is not very exciting. Also the reader of the book is one note away from being considered monotone. The only way I was able to get through the book was to speed it up to 1.30
Section 3 was the most interesting in regards to combat leadership principles.

In the military, a field manual provides instructions in simple, clear, step-by-step language to help soldiers complete their mission. In the civilian sector, books offer information on everything from fixing a leaky faucet to developing an effective workout program to cooking a good steak. Leadership Strategy and Tactics explains how to take leadership theory, quickly translate that theory into applicable strategy, and then put leadership into action at a tactical level. This audiobook is the solution that leaders at every level need.

Favorite JOCKO book
Revisado: 01-23-20
I love all of Jocko's books, which I recommend everyone read, but this one is my favorite. In this book Jocko gives an in depth, step by step process to lead. He uses everyday scenarios that most civilian business leaders may face and coaches you through them, giving you a solid foundation of leadership to guide and direct you.
