Historia
Today’s follower of Jesus exists at a moment when our desires, longings, and wants are being weaponized against us by cultural, spiritual, and relational forces. “Follow your heart” and “You do you” have become our moment's mantras. The Gift of Thorns, by A. J. Swoboda, addresses the core human problem: What in the world do I do with my desire?

Moving, brilliant, and most importantly, helpful!
Revisado: 06-15-24
Refreshing read, but not in a high energy, try to make you feel good in the moment way. Deeply helpful for me while in a challenging time.

Historia
Hungry and tired one night, Mike wanted a pizza, but getting a pizza delivered was a pain in the neck. He didn’t want to call a million restaurants to see what was open. So, as an avid coder, he created GrubHub in his spare bedroom to figure out who delivered to his apartment. Hangry details step-by-step the grind of building an innovative business, with each chapter including sharp lessons for entrepreneurs and startups that Mike learned on the fly as he piloted GrubHub by the seat of his pants.

I love how Mike was very open and transparent about his feelings leading up to the IPO

Fantastic listen. Definitely go with audiobook.
Revisado: 03-02-23
This book was so good I would re-organize my day just to make more time to listen to it. This is also one of the books that you must listen to instead of read, because the author narrates it so well. Favorite book in quite a while for me.

Historia
Thinking all monasteries were like the ones he saw in the movies, Jesse Itzler arrived at the New Skete religious community in remote Cambridge, New York, with a shaved head and a suitcase filled with bananas. To his surprise, New Skete monks have most of their hair. They're Russian Orthodox, not Buddhist, and they're also world-renowned dog breeders and authors of dog-training books that have sold in the millions.

Decent book, stories and insights
Revisado: 12-09-18
Pros: This book has a lot of wisdom packaged into interesting stories. I like when author's narrate their own books and Jesse does this very well. What the author offers in the last chapter is pretty unique and fun.
Cons: There is nothing profound that you are not going to find in any other book. The insights were not always delivered in impactful and motivating ways. Sometimes I get the impression that the author thinks he is the answer to what everyone is looking for.

In the tradition of such best-selling books as Shoe Dog and Mountains Beyond Mountains, Thirst is a riveting account of how to build a better charity, a better business, a better life - and a gritty tale that proves it’s never too late to make a change.

I clung to every minute of this book
Revisado: 07-03-16
I was a little unsure diving into a 20 hour long book. My fear was that the book was going to be full of many unnecessary and an uninteresting points. This was a powerful and at times hard story that was very well told.
