Historia
The most common investing approach today - one that values “growth” over all else - can be ineffective and counterproductive for many investors, not to mention needlessly stressful. Now, one of Seeking Alpha's most popular writers, Steven Bavaria, provides a groundbreaking alternative that will see you through all markets - up, down, and sideways. The Income Factory shows how to build an income stream that increases solidly and consistently - a result of reinvesting and compounding the dividends.

Only one complaint
Revisado: 11-21-22
This is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in closed end funds and alternative investing strategies. My only complaint is that there are a lot of references to links to tools and tables, but are not accessible from the audio book. There really needs to be an accompanying PDF. I checked the author’s website to no avail.

This audiobook is about luck, or more precisely, how we perceive and deal with luck in life and business. It is already a landmark work, and its title has entered our vocabulary. In its second edition, Fooled by Randomness is now a cornerstone for anyone interested in random outcomes.

Great book
Revisado: 01-10-22
This is the only book written for an audience interested in statistics that I would recommend to people without a mathematical background. It is a great way to understand how to think about the qualitative side of probability.

Historia
A black swan is a highly improbable event with three principal characteristics: It is unpredictable; it carries a massive impact; and, after the fact, we concoct an explanation that makes it appear less random, and more predictable, than it was. The astonishing success of Google was a black swan; so was 9/11. For Nassim Nicholas Taleb, black swans underlie almost everything about our world, from the rise of religions to events in our own personal lives. Elegant, startling, and universal in its applications, The Black Swan will change the way you look at the world.

Interesting, but over the top

Fantastic Book
Revisado: 01-10-22
I found that Taleb’s writing style is a lot more comprehensible in audiobook form, since a lot of his humor is very cutting and easy to miss without understanding the tone.
The ideas in this book are a lot more formal but still fairly accessible. I will say, if you don’t have much time experience working with probability a lot of his frustrations probably seem very weird and nitpicky. But there is a subset of people that will respond extremely well to the ideas he presents. It’s amazing how little repetition there is in such a long book given the fact that a lot of the chapters talk about the same concepts that he defined in earlier chapters.
That said, I suggest reading/listening to Fooled By Randomness before diving into this one. It’s much shorter and less technical. It also introduces a lot of the concepts and analogies he uses in this book. By the first few chapters of that book you will know if you like Taleb’s style without having to dive into this much more intimidating work.

Historia
The Man on the Mountaintop tells the story of Holy Man Joe, an ageing and unassuming man who lives in a hermitage on top of a mountain. During the summer months, thousands of hopefuls line the path leading to his door, seeking his wisdom. From bombastic, wealthy nobles intent on cheating their way to the top to drunkards who gradually build the physical and mental strength they need to quit their addiction, The Man on the Mountaintop is a rousing tale full of humour, wit and life lessons.

Starts off slow
Revisado: 04-19-20
If we’re being honest, the first couple hours of the book are pretty corny and generic stories. I would not have finished it had I had credits left to use elsewhere. But the second half of the book is a lot better, it becomes an actual story. Stanley Tucci as the narrator and Joe’s voice actors were great but some of the extras voice actors and dialogue were pretty terrible and produced a few audible groans. It’s a short book with a nice message that is worth your time if you’re willing to look past how direct it’s messaging is at times.
