Beautifully written literature

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-05-06

This book was written over 50 years ago. The writer has wonderful command of the english language, He is prolific, highly descriptive and inspiring. I have listened to over 50 books. I have never heard a book so wonderfully written. The writer is lyrical and had a unique way of phrasing his story. He does not preach his philosophy, he mearly states the facts as he sees them. You may not believe his teachings but you will have a greater understanding not only of his but of other religons. Do not listen to this to buy or not buy his religion. Read it for the shear enjoyment of the writing and the wonderful, delightful story of an extraodinary life. Sir Ben kingsley's voice is soothing and does justice to this highly entertaining piece of literature.

WHY ONLY ABRIDGED?

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 10-05-05

Elizabeth Peters writes a wonderful story, why only offer the abridged versions? Barbara Rosenblat is wonderful there is no one who could do justice to this series more than her. I have purchased the abridged versions because that is the only option I have been given to continue with the series. I think that we should be able to listen to them as Ms. Peters intended full and uncut. Those who don't want such a long story, can find another series. Amelia Peabody should not be silenced into an abridged version. I want to hear every long speech Ramses gives! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because it is ABRIDGED!

I don't get it!!!

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-10-05

I just don't get what people find thrilling about this book. I started to listen, after about 3 hours I just kept waiting for the suspense, the thrill, the anything. I left it and listened to another book. I then came back to it a few days later wanting to give it another chance. After hour 7, I kept thinking there is not a person or event in this story that I care about. This book had less excitement than "Paul Harvey's rest of the story"
DULL, BORING, too much un-necessary technical information that is NOT ONLY unneeded but also more importantly added to the agony for the length. I am a fan of Lincoln Child and Scott Brick but this was a real disappointment and an incredible waste of $.

I didn't see it coming, I couldn't put it down!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-10-05

I try not to read the spoilers in other reviews. I don?t know why I didn?t see this ending coming. I didn?t put 2 and 2 together with the timeline. I had to hear the ending three times to make sure I got it right. I thought I had somehow skipped to a different story. The hero is real. The feelings and emotions are believable. The villain is unfortunately, all too believable. This book grabs you at the beginning and keeps you glued till the all too believable, all too poignant ending. There is no dull moment, a true must finish story. I would recommend that every reader who likes a gripping thriller to invest time in this. I will read this author and reader again as they both did a superb job.
