Unoriginal Instalove Fae Story

I strongly feel most of the reviews for this book are by people who got free copies or are under the age of seventeen. How could this book get so much positive feedback when it is so terrible!? A boring unoriginal story that reads like a mismatch of every other fantasy romance trope out right now. Overall I picked this up for the Unseelie concept as many books do not put them as main characters. However, I was disappointed in the poorly written enemies to lovers plot that had the villain falling in love with a Barbie doll good looking animal lover type character in less than two seconds. The author beats you over the head with the main female character Callie’s good looks to the point that I think she will be revealed to have fae blood *rolls eyes*. There is no character development, romance, or great plot in this book just a lot of boring FanFiction “pretend hate” to justify the plot. I wanted for this book to get better and it never did. Not even the few steamy scenes are worth it…. I wish I had never spent a credit on this trash and will not be buying the sequel.

Where does Alien's Bride, Book One rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book as a series will absolutely rank in the top five paranormal sci-fi "alien abduction" books. But this book by itself (since it is not complete) is still very good. Just keep in mind that it will be a very quick listen! The narrator Rose does a great job of conveying all the voices but at first I hated her voice the first time I heard it. My advice is if you listen to the entire story she is very good at making you BELIEVE this is the character's voice. She seems to understand the authors writing style and makes the characters believable. I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I thought it was going to be boring like the Terra Mates series...but that is just my preference. This book is heavy on "internal dialogue" and low on action/plot development. So if you like the main character you will like this book because you will know at all times what the main character is thinking. So keep that in mind.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien's Bride, Book One?

Don't want to give anything away. But for me it was the last 30 minutes of the book. It gave a new perspective to the entire plight of the lead character Maritza! Very disturbing but well done and unexpected. Made me look forward to book number two!

Which character – as performed by Rose DeMarco – was your favorite?

All of them were excellent. She figured out a way to make the male lead sound pleasant without sounding overly masculine or girly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought the book was very funny in certain parts. Maritza was a great character who was trying really hard to wrap her head around her crazy situation. As a reader you just wanted to understand more about this new world just like Maritza. So her character was just as curious as you yourself the listener is.

Any additional comments?

I wish this series was offered as an omnibus. I HATE waiting in between as each audiobook comes out. For everyone who isn't sure about purchasing this book listen to the sample and buy it if you love alien sci-fi type romances. Otherwise you'll feel like you only bought a third of a story and won't want to continue. For me this was a GREAT buy with a AWESOME narrator with a story that kept my interest which I can't say for other audiobooks I've bought that are three times this one's length!
