Impressively narrated, I always have trouble finding a narrator that I like
Revisado: 06-17-24
Diana has an incredible knack for detail that grounds, and enhances the story. Never was there a part that dragged. I just finished the first novel in this series after recently watching 6 seasons of Outlander on Netflix. The book was almost as captivating as the series. I only say that because I appreciated the added depth the actors brought to the story. Visualizing the characters I had recently come to know in the series as the physical manifestations of the book characters made listening all the more fun.

I don't think I've ever listened to a sexier voice
Revisado: 01-16-22
It's a short listen but it's definitely worth a credit. The narrator shifts effortlessly between the characters voices. I have listened to AMSR in the past and I always get goosebumps from that. This is similar to ASMR minus the bubble wrap, or rice crispy cereal with milk. The voice is low, soothing, whispery, slightly raspy at all the right moments and it just works! I look forward to more VO by this artist.

Harrowing, heartbreaking, engrossing
Revisado: 11-27-20
Finished it in just over a week. This story hit me in a way that left me with deeper gratitude for all the little things in daily life one could easily take for granted. What a horrific experience and especially in relatively modern times. There were some crumbs of hope strewn along the way but most of this childs story was so unbelievably soul crushing.

Historia
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

in addition to gaining some much needed perspective from Brené, I also enjoyed how much levity she brings to the topic of discussion. She is amazing. I will seek out more of her books but only after listening to this again.

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

I really enjoyed listening to this book
Revisado: 07-30-20
This was an incredibly easy book to listen to. The authors voice is fluid- almost hypnotic and the way he tells the stories with an informal conversational approach makes this book captivating. It never seemed as if he was reading off of a page. I enjoyed the opportunities to reflect and meditate after listening to the Traditional Native American stories. The author seamlessly connects importance of community and helping each other as the path to healing. Its a beautiful message and it made me rethink how I work on issues within my own life. One person cannot have all the answers and healing cannot happen in a bubble no matter how determined you are.

Read this book! I'm inspired to take action!
Revisado: 05-22-20
I'm feeling a sense of levity and inspiration that I haven't had for a long time after listening to this book. The authors tone is high vibe. The communication style is direct, clear and uncluttered with anecdotal stories- only methods and why they work. The cadence of his voice and enthusiasm in the topics discussed encourages immediate action but not in a pushy way. I found myself feeling very excited about jumping in right away. I often paused the book during each chapter to take notes and start implementing. He gets you pumped!
