This book delves into what makes intense self directed learning projects achievable.

I’ve read a few great books on learning - make it stick, moon walking with Einstein and many books on language learning. This book can be counted among these titles and perhaps surpasses them in some respects as the book is exceptionally well organized.

This book takes the cake as it’s almost ZERO fluff. I took diligent notes as I listened through to the audio book on long walks. I struggled to keep up due to the pure gold being spun. My walks became drawn out to 2 hours to get in as much listening as possible before setting it down for the evening.

Everything is explained in a straight forward step by step process that draws on the habits of geniuses and extensive research on the process of learning by the author.

Read it. You’ll like it.

Benny is certainly full of positivity for language learning. If you struggle with the negative voice in your head that says you can’t learn a foreign language - this book is for you. Benny is able to combat the reasons why many learners struggle - their own negativity. There is no lack of solid info in this book but there is nothing earth shattering or mind blowing here. It’s a good book and it’s certainly helped me on my language learning journey in that I now know I can do it - but I don’t think it’s really given me tips and tricks that are going to give me a boost or edge. It certainly won’t allow me to learn a language quickly and efficiently, “in half the time”, or anything like that. It’s fluffy, but it serves a crucial purpose to inflate positivity and “pats on the back” if you’re a negative Nancy.

I think what I really desire and haven’t found yet anywhere I look is a comprehensive and clearly outlined language learning method that isn’t vague or fluffy. Just a no nonsense clearly articulated download. These polyglots clearly know something, but they struggle to teach it. Savant learner ≠ savant teacher. Benny actually is a decent teacher though - don’t get me wrong. I’m just speculating that many polyglots have forgotten what it’s like to be a beginner language learner and monolingual. Anyway, good luck and I hope you find what you’re looking for.

Nelson has put together an impressive book. His See, Link, Go method is applied in many different memory skills that he provides. This book is great if you want to remember names and faces, phone numbers, passwords, dates in history, and even playing cards.

My one complaint with the book is that it is spoon fed to you. Every technique comes along with around 5 examples so be prepared to go through a lot of made up memory palaces. It’s a little hard to listen to “imagine that so and so is doing X with a Y” a million times, but it’s all worth it because the book is full of Gold.

I’d probably recommend getting the physical book. I like the ease of audio, but I felt like I missed out on the cool illustrations, and I would have liked to skip around.

Culadasa has managed to take the practice of meditation and explain it using clear as day terminology and scientific precision. After reading/listening to the book I better understand the conscious and unconscious processes going on in my mind during meditation. Culadasa has laid out a clear map that both new and experienced meditators will benefit from. Culadasa has synthesized the multiple stage based systems of meditation and put together a Samatha-vipassana system that ultimately leads to awakening. The blending and balancing of concentration and insight practices found in the book have transformed my practice. I have identified and disassembled large stumbling blocks and traps on the cushion. Get this book!

Note: I would however recommend that you also buy the physical book, to supplement this audio book, as the audio book does not include the appendixes or glossary of terms which are indispensable.
