Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Creative and captivating retelling of Huck Finn
Revisado: 03-30-24
Huckleberry Finn reimagined from the viewpoint of the slave Jim. Engrossing plot that keeps you reading. The book provides much food for thought and is extremely well written. The narration is excellent. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable but not the best stories for mystery fans
Revisado: 02-26-24
Although these stories were entertaining, most of them were weak on the kind of mystery Christie is known for.

Historia
Archie Goodwin’s very good friend Lily Rowan spends much of her time helping women in need, from underpaid workers to mistreated wives. But at the moment she’s particularly concerned about one woman: her best friend, Maureen, a beautiful socialite who’s been incommunicado for two weeks. After Archie helps Lily comb through Maureen’s deserted Park Avenue penthouse, and Lily contacts each of her friend’s well-heeled suitors, they still don’t know much more than when they started. Then Archie tries to track down Maureen’s estranged half-brother, but he seems to have vanished as well.

Enjoyable but not one of the best in the modern Nero Wolfe series.
Revisado: 01-25-24
Characterizations of Wolfe, Archie and the other regulars are top notch h as always. Plot is o.k. But not great.

Historia
Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson ( Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring) brings a palpable sense of joy and exuberance to her performance of Lewis Carroll's enduring classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The young and imaginative Alice grows weary of her storybook, one "without pictures or conversations", and follows a hasty hare underground - to come face to face with a host of strange and fantastic characters.

Historia
From the outside, Harold is an average seven-year-old third grader growing up in the 1960s. Bored by school. Crushing on a girl. Likes movies and baseball—especially the hometown Boston Red Sox. Enjoys spending time with his grandfather. But inside Harold’s mind, things are a lot more complex and unusual. His thoughts come to him as birds flying through a small rectangle in the middle of his brain. He visits an outdoor cafe on the moon and is invited aboard a spaceship by famed astronomer Carl Sagan.

Pure Steven Wright!
Revisado: 05-23-23
Not sure I would call this a novel. More of a Steven Wright monologue, As per usual for Wright, it is wildly funny, creative, imaginative and just plain crazy! If you like Wright’s standup comedy, which I definitely do, you will enjoy this book. But do definitely do the audio book, just to hear Wright read it in his usual deadpan manner.
